I'll bite. The defenses were even at worst. Alabama's offense was better. Do you think Alabama's offense played to their potential on 11/5/11? It took LSU overtime to beat Alabama's B or C game despite your Special Teams and defense playing better. On 1/9/12, your defense and special teams came to play, and Alabama was more than prepared for the offense you played. On 11/5/11, the game planned for Lee not Jefferson running the option. The option didn't really have that much success versus Alabama anyways, but it was enough for the win.

That's a lot of typing to admit that, in the game touted as the biggest game of the century, BAMA lost at home with what everyone considered to be all the marbles on the line. Unless you're one of those guys who determines which team is better of factors other than the score, LSU was better when it appeared to matter most.

LSU won on 11/5/11 because they made far fewer mistakes. When Alabama brought their A game, played less conservatively, and made no mistakes, LSU was blown out.

No conformation bias in any of that...

So you have one "signature" win, and you are bitch about ND and OSU being paper tigers?

Did you really think you would come in here and educate a bunch of LSU fans? Each side is biased, and it is hard to sway an argument like this.

The play of the offense made play of the defense and special teams utterly irrelevant.

Bobbled snaps, a cardinal sin under handed interception, a missed wide open TD pass.

I'd say Alabama didn't force those.

I guess we've reached an impasse. Alabama had no part in your offense playing bad. LSU had little part in Alabama's missing win clenching field goals on 11/5/11.

It does when the LSU defense stopped your kicked at a range that is more difficult to make. He wasn't exactly blowing chip shots from the 10.

So LSU's offense's bad play made Alabama look good 1/9/12, but Alabama's bad play didn't make LSU look good 11/5/11, or was your point that the only difference between the two games was LSU? That would mean Alabama had a terrible game kicking again, was outrushed significantly, and costly turnovers, yet none of those things happened. Which is it?

Other than playing defense keeping Bama's offense outside of 20. Bama only crossed the 20 once all game, and never crossed the 15. Missing 50 yard field goals isn't bad luck.

There was a missed kick or two in the NCG.

I maintain that LSU shite the bed.

At the end of the day, Alabama won the game. And because it was not close, I'm not complaining about the game. What I don't get is why Alabama fans hate LSU so much. They have no reason to be mad. They won decisively that night. Jefferson couldn't hang with elite D-lineman

Are we making excuses now? LSU actually got in the red zone, while Bama was trying 50 yd field goals.

I've already stated that your team played better.
LSU scored a field goal on your red zone trips. Let's reexamine how you got there.
1. Morris Claiborne interception return.
2. Blown coverage. Review the highlight. 1 Alabama defender was chasing two receivers. The defensive back had his man covered. Who was supposed to cover the wide open, free man? Yeah. I guess LSU forced the blown assignment.
3. OT. You've already got a short field provided to you. I know your running back barely stepped out of bounds after that late pitch but don't act like you drove all the way down the field for the game winning field goal.

Neither team found the end zone. LSU's field goals were the result of a busted assignment, an interception return, and a good play on a field shortened by it being overtime.

Hmm, doesn't appear either team was moving up and down the field.

You're really going to compare 2/5 to 5/7?
Why are jimmies rustled when Alabama fans make excuses for their teams like "beating themselves", but when other's do it, it's okay.

You can claim that LSU screwed themselves over on 1/9/12 but won't admit that Alabama f'd up on 11/5/11. I was hoping this would be a healthy debate, but it didn't turn out that way. Thanks for the insight everybody. I made a mistake in making this thread. Let's move forward.

So if both teams were so even as evidenced by scores vs common opponents and no decision in regulation (Bama arguments). Why then did Bama suddenly put up a 21-0 effort in the NCG if LSU didn't blow the game? Seems like a statistical outlier.
I'm still waiting for the rubber match though....

Look, I realize that all this "dynasty" talk is overblown/exaggerated. The two programs are close, and Alabama has not even been close to untouchable the past 4 years.

I'm upset, not mad. You're welcome to your opinion, and I'm not going to press matters any further. It's just saddening that we can't get along better. I respect LSU. The only programs and fanbases I have a gripe with are Georgia and Texas A&M's.

Well I see no reason to be upset. Both programs are great, but Alabama is the one taking home the gold. I was mostly alluding to Tidefans.com and their ban on LSU fans but to nobody else. Why are they so angry? Football is a great game, but people don't need to treat it religiously. Bama fans should be proud, but same with LSU fans. There's a lot to be happy about.

I would like to compare offensive statistics, but I expect that someone will just post the ones that make LSU's offense seem on par with if not better than Alabama's.

1/9 symbolizes the culmination of the years of disrespect/lack of respect that Bama has for the LSU. Barrett Jones' arrogant restoring order comment was the icing on the cake for me.
