re: I've a question for Christians that is a bit off current topic - Stingray
Gnostic-Theist/Theist: I KNOW there is a god. Agnostic-Theist: I won't pretend to KNOW, but I BELIEVE there is a god. Agnostic-Atheist/Atheist: I won't pretend to KNOW there isn't a god, but I haven't seen sufficient evidence to accept any god belief [, so I lack a belief in gods]. Gnostic-Atheis...

re: I've a question for Christians that is a bit off current topic - Stingray
My last post tonight. 1. Don't confuse know and believe, they are two different things. As example we know that 2 + 2 is 4, it's a fact. But we can only believe or not believe that there is or isn't life out there besides us, cause it is not proven. 2. Either one believes or they don't. There...
What is the actual difference when it comes to what we accept as true?
A wise man knows what he knows and what he does not know. He knows what is stone cold fact, what is probable, what is unlikely, and what is anybody's guess. I read this question as, "Is epistemology importan...

As for 6'2", I certainty don't know if you are 6'2" or not, but I believe you are, as you are probably proud of this and thus figured a way to get this statement into the conversation. Just a guess....
Agnostics don't believe or disbelieve
See how ridiculous the word Angostic is? It is impossible to simultaneously avoid belief and disbelief.
They don't know.
Of course they don't know. Atheists don't know, deists don't know, no one knows....
ShortyRob
BTW, everything you have said about atheist vs agnostic, I agree with 100%. I used to call myself agnostic, but I really have almost always been an atheist, and I think deist vs atheist is the only really substantive classification....

I know 2 + 2 = 4. I know the Saints won the Super Bowl. I know Obama is the president. A negative cannot be proven. I don't BELIEVE God exists. There is a difference. And you can look up whether the exact definition uses know or believe....
I've a question for Christians that is a bit off current topic You haven't studied much, then. I don't believe, but I don't reduce their arguments to what you are saying.
You don't have to reduce their arguments! They do it for you. If you stay on them and debate them long eno...
You'd get that from the uneducated, maybe.
You will get that from every honest follower. Their position of belief in a God as defined by Jesus and their specific religion is intellectually shaky at best....

re: I've a question for Christians that is a bit off current topic - Stingray
Asking "why Earth" to me is like asking "why the Middle East." Either the English hear about Jesus 100 years after his death or the Plutonians hear about it in 10,000 years when warrior/missionary Christian astronauts convert them. What I am trying to say is that it is all absurd. Evidently, w...

re: I've a question for Christians that is a bit off current topic - Stingray
This isn't the best question, because it has to assume that there is life on other planets. The best question is why did God forsaken the millions of people on Earth who lived and died before Jesus? Did God suddenly start caring for people around 0 AD, or did he grade the ancients' lives on a pre...
