You nailed it Tigerpawl. I think she's deflecting. Whatever Bama did to get her allegiance has been delivered and one with. Move on, we don't need this Janzen Jackson, part Deaux.

let him go. it seems he has been wanting to be a roll tide(whatever that is)for awhile. His mom put up a good fight and then put on an acting job so heat would not be brought on to her. i do not wish the kid any bad luck, but now i say do not even contact him anymore and give the scholly to someone else who really wants to be a tiger. Poor kid will never get any help from his homestate if for some reason football does not work out. But for nwo let him go.

I don't know how much I really want him anymore. He doesn't seem to want to be a part of LSU. I'll trust the staff and support LSU if he would switch but I don't think I could ever be a Landon Collins fan. This isn't a job like the NFL these kids get to play where they want to play. And it looks like he's trying to say he wants to play for Alabama but tried to ease the backlash by keeping LSU in the race. And I think all of the hate he's getting is understandable. The reason certain football teams get so many fans is because people identify with the team. Ever heard the expression "this team takes on the personality of its city/fans". Sure winning will get you fans but those fans come and go. That's why some programs will always be relevant while others ignite and flame out like a match. LSU identifies with Louisiana and Louisiana identifies with LSU. LSU takes pride in Louisiana and Louisiana takes pride in LSU. Louisiana fans took pride in and identified with this kid and now he's decided he longer wants to be identified with them so LSU fans and the people of Louisiana feel hurt and betrayed and that's ok by me.

We have gotten to the point as a program where losing a talent from our backyard like Landon Collins just does not hurt us. Moral wise possibly, because we have become accustomed to signing these blue chip local guys but physically it doesn't do us any harm at all. We have recruited guys like him in the past (Reid, Loston) we will continue in the future. I am sure he will have a very successful career at Alabama, I just hope for his and LSUs sake he doesn't regret this decision for any reason.

Its his loss. I feel sorry for him for going away from his roots and his family, who are and will remain tiger fans. In the end he will regret burning this very large bridege no matter how successful he will be. Some times you just gotta listen to mom.

I don’t understand why people think his mom was acting. If you watch the family’s body language you could tell they are not happy, without her saying anything. The GF looked very out of place with the family. There has also been more than one report on the pay sites that the family is genuinely not happy about this.

i know they are not happy. They wanted to see Landon play right here at home. But don't you think they knew this for awile now? I really feel bad for his parents, but i do think they had to show their unhappiness for not only Landon but to keep a little heat off of them as well. I could be wrong about this and does not really matter, but thats what it looked like to me.

Yes I think they knew and it is really upsetting them. It is hard to hide that much emotion sometimes. The reporter/interviewer/entertainer spotted it and asked about it. Mom could not hold back… I don’t think it was staged she would not have said a word if she had not been asked. Heck she almost did not even go to the announcement. She is really upset and it will take time for her to move on.

Supposedly Landon has known for two years that he wants to go to Bama cause he just loves the players and coaches there. Knowing that's where he is going his GF worked really hard to earn an academic scholarship to Bama in order to follow him there.

At least that's what Landon wants us to believe.

Some are saying his mother was all bama until a couple weeks ago.

Who knows what's going on. All the more reason to just forget about and move on. The whole thing has a bad taste to it

#1 player in state of LA going to a bitter rival in the same division of the same conference, at a time when we aren't exactly "down"...

it's the precedent, not the player, that many are upset with... he's a good player, no doubt, but this is more about Saban being able to come into the state and grab one that LSU really wanted, and the fact that we will be playing against that player for a couple of years....

Makes me doubt the talent evaluators. I just don't see the justification for putting this guy on a pedestal, playing ability and otherwise.

Let the little punk be a gump! He better get used to LSU winning every year! I don't want him now. What a little punk!

Come on now. Be better than that. Represent LSU's fanbase with class. 24 hr rule on this one. It's over and he is gone. We win on Monday night and we get Howard and/or Edwards on 2/1. It's to hate the Gumps but lets give the 17yr old kid a break. He made a mistake and will probably regret it just like Joe Mc and Janzen probably do.

I can't understand how any kid would rather play for Saban's crazy arse over Miles. It's very easy to see if you simply watch both sidelines during a game. Why don't kids notice that? The "STFD" video clip shows it all. The looks on the asst coaches faces was pure panic. He wants everyone to fear him and he does a good job of that. It doesn't look like anyone is having much fun on the Bama sideline.

This is basically what bothers me the most about the whole situation. LSU's rise to the ranks of college football's elite occurred when the program finally put the state on lock down. Sure, we lost a player or two every once in a while, but for the most part LSU got every Louisiana kid that they went after. Since Saban has been at Alabama he has made it a point to pluck kids from Louisiana, attempting to bring down that barrier that LSU has over the state. Taking the top 2 players out of the state this season just goes to show that the fence around Louisiana isn't as strong as it was just a couple of seasons ago.

So, yeah, losing Collins sucks because he is a great player and all. I'm sure that we will be just fine with out him, but if we continue to lose our top players to rival schools we won't be just fine for too long. And its not just Bama that has been dipping in to the cookie jar...

ETA:

Thought about it for a bit: from 05-08 the only in state player I could remember LSU really recruiting and losing was Joe McKnight. Other than him the top Louisiana players that didn't come to LSU were not really pursued.

Since 09' we have lost

Janzen Jackson
Darrington Sentimore
Kenny Bell
Trovon Reed
Greg Robinson
Bradley Sylve
Denzel Devall
Landon Collins
