So being rational means I can't be a fan? I guess if you're a T-shirt fan and aren't capable of independent thought, sure. I'm not going to debate my 'fan-ness' with you, but suffice it to say that I hate Alabama as much or more than any of you

Recent study done beause of the Kiel recruiting vs ND etc, stated only Vandy was academically higher than LSU nationally. Don't know where bama was after LSU.

every third party I've ever seen Alabama is a superior academic school to LSU. Princeton, US News, etc.

there is basically no difference between lsu/bama. they are both middle of the road academic state schools. 5 stars recruits trying to get a better degree at bama is fricking hilarious.

He wants to major in journalism. Bama has a great journalism school. Pretty simple. If he wanted to major in French or landscape architecture he should go to LSU. Why is it hard to acknowledge that bama is a generally better academic school?

Because, generally speaking, they are not a better academic school.

When I was applying to different schools, Bama had much easier admission standards, even though neither are difficult to be admitted to.

Bama has better graduate programs. I'll admit that.

There's almost no difference between the two schools for undergrad. FACT.

He should have gone to Texas if he wanted an elite academic institution along with an elite football program.

He's going to Bama for a horse-faced white girl. End of Story.

Check every ranking service. Alabama is a superior undergraduate school. Often by dozens and dozens of slots. Why is admitting that so difficult?

Wow, that is an insane statement. Most state colleges rank higher than LSU academically and for private colleges LSU's standing is even worse.

What he meant was LSU graduates more players than any other school in the SEC other than Vanderbilt. I think that's what the study was for at least

Two of the three most weighted factors in rating colleges are:

1. Freshman Retention
2. Graduation Rate

I began LSU in 2002, failed out in 2003 because I drank too much and was irresponsible and then re-enrolled in 2008 after going to the Army for 4 years and learning how to be responsible. I have been incredibly pissed at what has happened at LSU, because the same kids that are making the same mistakes I made are having their lowest test grades dropped and recieving massive highschoolesque grading curves to keep them in school.

In 2010, a professor was fired because her tests were too hard.

Kids are no longer allowed to use laptops in some classes, which is not indicative of real life because they must learn to avoid destractions like facebook on their own while in class. My point is that a degree used to be important because it represented someone with a certain level of mental maturity and responsibility more than anything. Now, it's nothing.

My point: It doesn't matter where your school ranks on these lists because it can just as easily be an indication of easier tests and grading methods than better learning.

Dozens of slots?

Slots?

Slits?

What a joke. You are a joke. bammer the school merely exists so that the rednecks can have a football team. They cheat and claim championships that didn't happen. That pretty much invalidates any list IMO....So take your list and shove it.

So you guys would agree that Harvard and Tulane are about equal academically, right? Or Yale and Ohio State? Because the difference between those two is the same in terms of rank as between LSU and Alabama.

I don't get why academic superiority is sticking in everyone's craw so badly. Honestly, most everything about LSU is better imo - campus is nicer, it's easier to navigate, it's in an actual city, stadium's better, football team is better, and so on. Also getting real excited about the game today

this is a dumb argument if we are talking about undergraduate degrees.

Undergrad degrees for the most part are equal from just about EVERY college. There are exceptions at the very top of the list...but that's about it.

An undergrad degree from Bama is no more valuable than one from LSU...unless you live in Louisiana or Alabama.

Why is this even an argument? It's stupid.

We are keeping these kids name at the top over a none recruiting related conversation. Which school has a better undergrad. please be serious. Thats a cmon man.

WHo cares let it go let him go. we have bigger fish to fry at the moment. If LC changes his mind and forgive the ignorance from our fan base then I will welcome him back with open arms. Until then he is a Gump and I wish him the best.

You're saying that as a fan and I understand why you think that, but then why would every college ranking service say that there is a difference? Just to annoy you? LSU degree is more valuable in Louisiana, Alabama is more valuable almost everywhere else, save maybe Houston or a couple other places where Tiger alums end up pretty frequently. There is a difference. One stat that jumps out at me, for example, is that Alabama has a higher 4-year graduation rate than LSU and a higher 6-year graduation rate as well. That's one of the figures they use to calculate school rankings.

LSU is better at French and landscape architecture. Alabama is better at journalism, advertising, telecommunications, and public relations.

Jesus Christ. You sound like my dad arguing the value of my degree vs. his vastly superior northern state college degree.

It takes a special kind of tool to register and impersonate a LSU fan for 650+ posts and bring academics arguments to a sports message board.

Not as bad as the W-2 argument that was taking place in another thread on the recruiting board.

Arguing about which one pays more income taxes on a recruiting board
