Depends on what you call "issues." We have always fried fish whole in my family..... I am used to eating around bones. As Otis said, you can prepare her serving for her. I did for my wife & son last night.

You inspired me today to go Colorado style with mine, since specks aren't available here I used rainbow trout

after flipping

with the salsa before plating(hot dogs were for the kids)

served with the grilled carrots and smothered cabbage

Thanks for inspiring me Bossflossjr! It turned out great!

Wonder if this would work for fresh water fish like bass or crappie?

Don't think I have ever scaled a single speck.

Not sure why.... May have to try that.

And yea that belly meat is good.

Fried Snapper ribs are great

May be a foolish question but what is the best way to "scale" the trout? I have either fillet the fish or leave scales on for grilling (redfish and such.)

Scrape the fish with a spoon, tail to head. White Perch, Bream, Flounder as well. Redfish are much more difficult to scale than the others.

I was inspired by this thread. I only caught two trout this weekend. Instead of grilling, I fried whole.

Phenomenal. Thanks boss!

Used to fry our bream whole. I miss those poor old college days.

Looks great. May try fryin a whole trout one day....Its the only way I fry white perch or bream to this day.

Try the grilled route. Cant stress enough how important the drying step is.. I tore one I cooked last week because I didnt dry it well enough.

Looks good Boss.

We have done Bream and Crappie this way for 50+ years.

Well, minus the salsa, which looks nice.

Always good.

That's a fantastic job on that. By all you guys. I will be trying this if the weather and work ever let me get out and get the main ingredient.
