re: Starting job in July that is 1099 instead of W2. What should I be saving? - 8thyearsenior
You can write a bunch off but you are still going to get screwed. I was 1099 in 13 and 14. In 14 I had my s Corp set up and wrote off almost 100k in stuff. My taxable income was 155 and I paid the Feds 47k. Every year I have been a w2 employee I've always done my taxes myself and never paid over 15%...

re: Medical Insurance Exchange ? - 8thyearsenior
The exchange here in Colorado was simple to use. You pick the type of plan( high or low deductible) then it shows you a list of plans and their cost. It was simple and pretty painless. I paid $980 a month for a low deductible plan for a family of four. I'm back in corporate America now and pay $3...

[quote]Before my wife went back to work, I was facing health insurance premiums of $1,000 for myself and another $700-800 for my wife and kid - and that was just for a high deductible "catastrophe" plan..
