Voted great raft but parish is probably the best brewery

A vote for Great Raft may as well be a vote for Abita. You're throwing away your vote.

Except unlike back in November, this actually matters.

I voted for Gary Johnson so I know all about throwing my vote away

Because it's perfectly legal here, I guess. I think that sort of thing is Parish by Parish, not statewide.

In Oregon, you have to serve food in order to allow minors in. So some taprooms don't allow them in, and others do.

Parish is the best accessible beer. However, every time I go to Courtyard they have a new beer that is fantastic. It keeps me on my toes and keeps me going back for more.

Agreed. Courtyard isn't getting the love that they deserve, but that's understandable because most people taking the poll have probably never been there.

I voted for Parish because Envie is my favorite accessible beer, but Courtyard is a close second.

Yeah, I don't get there nearly as often as I'd like to since I'm in BR.

...how?
or is it just a north LA thing that taprooms are 21+?

All taprooms opened prior to the 2015 legislative session were issued a Class A retail license by the ATC. Which meant no one under 21 in taprooms or tours.

In 2015 the legislature passed a new law that revoked the ATCs ability to issues Class A licenses to breweries and explicitly granted breweries the right to open a taproom for limited on site sales and consumption.

Taprooms that are 21+ may still be operating under that Class A license (or are limited by local ordinances). I know several taprooms got rid of their Class A license once the new bill became law.

I really like Courtyard, but he hasn't made a beer that I've tried that was on the level of peak-Ghost or Bloom.

His first batch of My Golden Path is the best beer he's made to date, and even with that the second batch was a pale shadow of the original. It's Parish or Great Raft, IMO, and it's not close. I could see a vote for either of those guys. I might give a slight edge to Great Raft for their outstanding barrel program, especially after tasting the new Parish sours. They're just not good.

I don't know if that's planned. If they are trying to make each beer distinctly different or what, but you can't deny that ghost and even Opus have changed.

No, they are different. And I get disappointment in buying something you expect to be a juice bomb and turns out to be a West Coast dank drink, or vise versa. Parish SHOULD make it known to their consumers what to expect if the batches are intentionally different.

However, it seems people who would otherwise enjoy drinking Double Jack, Duet, or other delicious filtered IPAs are treating this Ghost batch as if it's some 3rd tier IPA.

And I'm definitely not some Parish fanboy. I've yet to attend a Grand Reserve Day or any other special brewery event.

These last few batches of Ghost are still better than any "west coast" IPA.

Not even close IMO.

ETA: let me clarify. Better than any west coast IPA I've ever had.

I voted for Parish. They set the standard with GR and then Ghost. If it wasn't for Ghost getting crazy reviews, would Tin Roof, Gnarley Barley, Great Raft, etc, be brewing juicy IPAs? I don't know, but maybe not. Parish raised the bar well above the Abita standard, and now everyone else is trying to meet the new standard. For that reason, I give Parish the edge. Because they made everyone else around them better.

Voted for Parish first because I drink mostly Parish Beers. Went back and voted for Gnarly because the owner is cool af and Brightside is a badass IPA.

Yea, the aftertaste of their sours was pretty bad. Courtyard has produced a solid sour, but Nola has produced my favorite sours in the state.

Stale Cheerios-esque. Apparently that's an indicator of THP. Try Great Raft's sours. Better than NOLA, in my estimation, although that House of the Rising that NOLA did with 7venth Sun was very well done. Mostly because it tasted like a 7venth Sun beer

Everybody on this board knows how big of a Parish fanboy you were. Now Ghost isn't worthy of your shitloarding bc it isn't juicy enough.

Now you'd rather pay out the arse for NE IPAs to be shipped down, and act like you're to good for Parish.
