Friends in Jackson enjoy Walker's though I can't say they regularly get fish dishes.

Have you and the bride tried R'evolution in Jackson? Have no idea what it's like, but I've enjoyed a great fish dish at the New Orleans restaurant several times.

Nope, I was carrols chitlins consultant several years ago on an Iowa bow hunt. I tried to teach him professional marketing. I told him that his weekend diners had less refined pallits and they really didn't appreciate the fine smell of chitlins cooking, however, his working class, weekday lunch crowd had more refined pallits and would appreciate the chitlins aroma from Tuesday till the end of the week.

The broiled oysters at The Mayflower are excellent. Lots of butter/garlic/worcestershire.

Mrs O and the River Oaks soccer team hit the place years ago, on a Thursday, after a match south of there. She couldn't eat much due to the aroma....ha.

And the place was jam packed. Ha

We're total foodies, but based on tourney schedule we may be limited. We're adventurous and take a "when in Rome" approach.

We also like ethnic stuff.

We don't worry about $ when it comes to food.

Yes - Jerry's fries chitterlings on Thursday night or at least that was chitterling night a few years back and I bet they still do. I have never enjoyed that dish and have no plans to do so anytime in the future. Chitterlings is definitely not what comes to my mind when I think about dining on fish.

I always figured they cooked Chitterlings on Thursday because they changed out their oil on Fridays.

If it were my fried food place I would have two separate banks of fryers. The plan would be to cook in each bank for two weeks, with one bank being changed out this week and the other bank changed out next week.

If the change day is Friday, then Thursday would be the perfect day for Chitterlings if I had a cook that was willing to fry them only in the oil that would be changed out the next day. The other bank would hopefully be limited to cooking fries so that the wonderful flavor of fried chitterlings would not carry over into Friday's fish.

If I were in Jackson for a limited time and wanted to check out good and interesting places I'd try:

Lou's full serve (on fortification)--fantastic food all around. Jeans are always acceptable. Don't forget desserts.

Keifer's (on north state across baptist). Very casual Mediterranean. Good gyros, cottage fries

For upscale I'd try Parlor Market (downtown), Walker's (fondren), or Manship (across north state from baptist hospital)

May also want to check out the fondren area (babalu, saltine, or Brent's soda fountain). All casual and unique experiences

Never thought I would enjoy eating seafood in Jackson as much as I did at this place. Great food and beer selection. My favorite take on chargrilled oysters I've eaten (and I live in nola). They had Alabama white bbq sauce on them that was incredible.
