Tin Roof in general is meh, slight notch above Abita

I don't agree with that. Not saying Abita is awesome or anything, but I think they are a better brewery at this point.

I mean.. it's a typical American lager. May as well be Budweiser. But it has LSU on it and it's purple and gold so it's going to sell like crazy during football season.

Gameday IPA is better.

Well I think their Juke Joint IPA is better than any IPA Abita put out.

Abita might have more beer selection but the scale of meh is higher due to a higher selection of uninspiring beer.

They are not very good at IPAs, though their Wrought Iron was a step in the right direction as well as discontinuing Jackamo. But their selects, turbodog, amber and many others are great beers, but they will never get the attention because they aren't hoppy.

I still haven't tried this beer, but I really don't understand what people were expecting. Some super hoppy IPA, a rich stout, a fruit beer? They need to appeal to the masses and the mass panel picked this beer. It's not meant for the beer nerds.

Is a high quality lager too much to ask?

I mean Great Raft has a couple of very drinkable (to the masses) low ABV beers with Southern Drawl and Reasonable Corrupt.

eta: maybe I got caught up in the Tin Roof hate. I just assumed it was crappy and it has a very average uptappd rating. I'll try one tonight to see.
I'm always skeptical about first releases anyways. The first time I tried Gameday IPA it was bad enough that I still haven't tried it again.

Its not bad at all actually, certainly decent enough for an easy drinking gameday beer. I was pleasantly surprised compared to what Tin Roof normally puts out. Someone told me they replaced a bunch of their staff recently. Hopefully this is them turning the corner.
