I still haven't tried this beer, but I really don't understand what people were expecting. Some super hoppy IPA, a rich stout, a fruit beer? They need to appeal to the masses and the mass panel picked this beer. It's not meant for the beer nerds.

Exactly. When they were deciding on what to make I knew it was going to be something appealing to the masses; it'd be a dumb move not to be. They stand to make lots of money this football season with that beer.

I mean.. it's a typical American lager. May as well be Budweiser. But it has LSU on it and it's purple and gold so it's going to sell like crazy during football season.

They have put Bud Light in a purple and gold can before. It sold like crazy. Not sure if LSU got any scratch from those sells though.

I read in the paper that the Ragin' Cajuns USL/ULL beer is selling well. I haven't tried it.

Maybe, but probably not at $8.99 a 6 pack. Beer snobs don't want it because of Tin Roof's reputation and beer slobs won't buy it because they don't want to pay more that $6 for a 6 pack.

I just had my first Bayou Bengal. It was decent, has a sweetish almost rum like character to it. If I had to pull something out of my arse, I'd say they're using LA Sugar.

eta: Also picked up a couple of other hot weather drinkable beers. Abita Blueberry Wheat (very enjoyable) and Southern Prohibition Suzy B. (a quality dirty blonde ale). In order of what I enjoyed the most Suzy B then Bayou Bengal then the Blueberry Wheat.
