We don't really go out anymore because I have become a recluse/maw-maw, but when we used to go to City Bar, we'd start off downstairs while it was still early.. grab a table.. and watch people coming in and heading upstairs for the next 2 hours until the place was full.

There is a mirror by the staircase, and we kept a count of how many people stopped to check themselves out in the mirror before walking up the stairs. Nearly all were male

Yeah until you gotta worry about catching shite, her ex's that love to fight, and her eventually stalking you. What could possibly go wrong?

I hate City Bar so much.

Went there about a year ago, definitely did not fit in. Not nearly douchebag enough. Did not enjoy the music, nor anything but the scenery. Got invited to go there a few months ago and outright turned them down. Never going back there again.

I think the location for this new place is pretty bad. I don't go downtown very often, and when I do I don't see many people that I envision going to a bar with 95 taps and ordering anything other than bud or miller.

One of my roommates at LSU LOOOOOOOOVED City Bar. I always laughed anytime he talked about going there. All of his female friends were smoke shows, though. I prefer The Office as a "scenery" bar downtown.

and do enough business to keep the beer fresh.

and that will be a problem with 95 taps. Was in the Bulldog the other night and told them I wanted an IPA but was wondering which one was the freshest. They dont carry many draft IPAs and he kind of just looked at me like hmmm let me think. Now this might be an isolated incident but the Bulldog no doubt does more business than this new downtown place will do and they have trouble having fresh kegs. Even with the Bulldog having 81 taps and being arguably the most popular post college bar in the city, plenty of good beer goes unconsumed. Sadly, BMC is the biggest percentage of their sales

Does this even still exist? I thought it was now Breakroom at IPO. And they are always pimping it when I dine downstairs, but I don't know anyone who goes.

I liked The Office at one point too.

City Bar is like Freds for me. I'll go if I'm trashed. That's about it.

I rarely go downtown because none of the places are "great" to me, but if I'm down there, I like Blend. I like the bar/roof of Tsunami. If I'm not doing anything dressy, I like Lucy's.

They still had KBS on tap 2-3 days after they tapped the one keg they had. That is insane to me.

I've definitely regressed into old man status.

Hate loud and/or smoky bars. I want to be able to talk over the music. I don't go out nearly as often.. I refuse to go to bars like Fred's, Reggie's, or City Bar. As I get older, I prefer to either have people over or go to other people's houses to drink. No need to drink and drive, not so noisy, etc.

Radio Bar, Bulldog, The Cove, occasionally Pelican House (although, the last time I went to Pelican House, it was filled with people wearing Affliction shirts trying to impress ladies by going to an obviously overpriced bar).. those are the bars I like to go to.

For me, it's that I can't stay up past 11. I wake up too early during the week to stay up late. I can't even make it to somewhere chill without being ready to go home and go to bed within an hour or so, so we don't even waste time going anywhere much anymore.

Beyond that, the cab/Uber situation seems to have gotten worse with football season, so I avoid that too.

Yessir. It was a month or so ago. They tapped it on a Tuesday, but they still had it on the Thursday if I recall, which means it didn't even empty on their busiest night of the week.

Maybe they had more than 1 keg? I don't know. I just remember being extremely shocked it wasn't gone within a night.

I don't really know if I see this being a huge gem in the craft beer nerd scene.

It may not be, but I dont think it needs to be. Just an option for those who are downtown or go downtown that like that sort of atmosphere.

3rd Street Pub had a lot of local options and decent taps. Not great, but decent... and they apparently failed. I was in there a few weeks ago and they had Hopsecutioner, which was nice for a downtown bar.

There's no shortage of people who will tell you I'm an old man too. But I agree with all this.

Which is sad. Dont get me wrong I like the beer, but when thats the best there is downtown its a problem.

Hopefully this new place can fix that niche.

I went there a few times, knew one of the bartenders. The tap selection was good for downtown BR. I liked that i could go over there and have something besides BMC.

Went in there once and never thought it was a place worth visiting again.

They need to do something that makes me want to drive past every other beer place in BR to frequent them.

Like BMoney said, if they could get some good food involved it may prove helpful.
