Well?
Loved it. Introduced myself to Mr. Omar, who was waiting anxiously for people to walk in. First note: Place is small, but that's not a bad thing. I counted 6 tables, no more than 20 seats. So be cautious if you bring more than a couple people here.
Got the garlic knots as an app, they were pretty darn good. Next time I'll probably get the breadsticks(table next to me got them and they had cheese, looked really good.).
Then got the lunch special: two slices of pepperoni with a drink for $3.99. Pizza was greasy, but that's how good pizza should be. Crust was really great, chewy thin crust that he gets the dough from NY. You just can't make pizza crust like that down here.
Talked to him and another guy that he refered to as the "boss man". Asked me what website I had heard of them on, told them Tigerdroppings sent me. The "boss man" (who I assume is the actual owner, or building owner) seemed to recognize the website. Told them you guys said they had the best pizza in the area and he seemed surprised/pleased about that. Said I was dropping in later during the week with a group of about 10 co-workers, and he said he'll be ready.
This tops my list as my favorite pizza, but keep in mind my pizza experience only includes papa johns, dominoes, little Caesars, papa murphys, pizza hut, and hungry howies. Needless to say, it blew all of these out the water.

Just tried it again and I definitely agree. There is something unique about his crust.

My pizza hasn't been greasy, but I go for the vegetable.

Went today expecting to be disappointed because all of the hype and boy was I wrong. Absolutely loved the crust. The second that pizza came out, I knew it was what I've been looking for since my trip to New York last year. The cheese and sauce was good but I'm going back for the crust.
BTW, does anyone know if they do a version of the margherita?
Also, Omar kicks arse. He knew it was our first time there because he claims to recognize all of his patrons, and I believe him. It's a good drive from the house, but that's where I'll be going for pizza from now on

Disclaimer: I'm a total pizza snob, I was born and raised in Nj and pizza is a passion of mine.
Roma recieves my pizza snob stamp of approval.
Loved it, I'll definitely be back.

Went last night, got calzones and a hot sub. I loved the crust, and it needs to be dipped in the marinara sauce otherwise it's a greasy cheesey mess. It may just be me but when I order sausage and peppers, I expect ITALIAN sausage not Manda's. Am I wrong? It was still a good sandwich just not what I was expecting.

DeAngelos? I thought he took over Parma Pizza in Hammond Aire. I didn't get hired until DeAngelos was a few years old though. Now you've really got me curious.

I've ordered sausage and peppers from Roma 6 or 7 times and never got manda sausage. It has always been Italian sausage. Not saying I don't believe you, but it hasn't been my experience.

Never had manda sausage there either.
Roma pizza = best pizza around BR period.
Nowhere else comes close.

Went last night with the wife solely because of this thread. Excellent pizza, lived up to the hype. Omar and one other person were the only two working so the wait was a little long and service a little slow, but I was in no hurry so I didn't mind. Will be going back.

I remember there being a place called Roma Deli in Hammond Aire, but I never heard that Louis owned it....I could be wrong, but I don't think he did......
And damn, I was right by this Roma place yesterday getting my hair cut and but that was before I read this thread...I'm gonna have to check it out soon....

Louis came down from Jersey to BR to buy/take-over his cousin Paul Parma's fledgling 'Parma Pizza' in Hammond Aire, my cousin built it out for him. My father, and I, lived nearby, gave Paul, and later Louis regular biz when he was a one-man-show.
Roma Deli was on Sherwood, was owned by John from KC, made the best sugar-sweet sensation salad dressed sandwiches BR has ever known. At one time, he had nearly half, if not the majority of BR Italian Sandwich biz, along with Pokey and Mrs Saia..and before Jason's Deli, Monjuni's, etc..ever came to BR.

that would be johnny gaines .. correct ?? i used to love that place !! he was in his prime there in the early to mid 90s .. i wonder whatever happened to him ..

What happened to him, is that he and his boat selling family buddy, liked to play wee hours AM Blackjack at the Belle, two or three stations per hand, for nickels and dimes+..I suspect both are totally broke today.
