What are you guys basing your daily calorie intake of of? Just wondering . Seems like a lot of people pick a really low calorie intake for their weight.

Well started my diet on June 10th at 234.0 and weighed in this morning at 216.2. Feel great so far, havent lost any strength, and cant imagine how great I'll feel once I get to my goal of 175.

Just got back from the gym. Working out in a fasted state isn't nearly as bad as I thought it'd be. A little preworkout for a boost. I do feel like arse afterwards, though. Shaky. But I eat when I get back and I'm all better

re: PuttaDaForkDown
I moved the treadmill into my garage to work up a good sweat when I walk, I've been walking for 20 minutes @ 3.5 mph for the past three weeks. When do the lb.s start coming off? My pants and shirts do fit looser but my weight isn't dropping like I want. Am I being impatient and expecting too much too soon?

re: PuttaDaForkDown
Well part of the problem is your line of thinking with the sweat. More sweat =/= more calorie burn. You'd be just as well off in the air conditioner... You probably get hot and frustrated and impatient. And walking @ 3.5 for 20 minutes won't get you anywhere if you aren't eating right.

What kind of weight loss have you had so far? And what does your diet look like? 80% of weightloss/bodyfat loss is diet related. If yourdiet sucks then you are cancelling out the exercise you are doing.

2 mile race today. A new PR of 14:22. 30 seconds faster than my previous record.

I don't count calories, but a basic weekday for me is one of two things. for example:

1)
breakfast - eggs, bacon, toast
lunch - salad w/ some kind of protein
snack - carrots & hummus
dinner - chicken and salad

2)
breakfast - banana, strawberries, cottage cheese
lunch - sandwich
snack - carrots & hummus
dinner - hummus wrap

not calorie counting on the 5and2.

I'll get e-grief for this comment for the tenth time but I think diet is closer to 100% responsible for weight loss. exercise is for health/fitness. Doing both is better for your health.
Every morning going to work I see massive people running/jogging/walking trying to sweat out the terrible diets they are on.

re: PuttaDaForkDown
You can't say either are 100%. Sure I could eat whopper's every day for a month then switch to a healthy balanced diet and I'll loose weight. But it's because my body isn't taking in crap anymore. I'd say diet is 75% and exercise is 25%. It depends on the type of exercise you a doing as well. Lifting a certain way will have you gain weight due to muscle build.
And the amount of sweating has nothing to do with it. It's all about keeping your heart rate elevated for an extended period of time.

Tl;dr: I disagree. I say 75% diet, 25% exercise

Personal experience. If I eat what BMR calculators and MFP suggest, I put on weight. Metabolism is slow or my hormones are screwed up or something, IDK. But I limit myself to 1600 a day right now.

re: PuttaDaForkDown
On an 1800 limit for now,
Yesterday started off decent (4mile jog/walk/run) and I ate great but had a couple drinks for dinner then had chips/dip + tacos.....

So according to MFP I went 600 over my 1800 goal but I didn't entertain running so I guess it was ok

re: PuttaDaForkDown
My typical day is probably a total of 16-1800. Then I factor in my running, cardio, weight lifting, and everything else and I end up around 14-1500 daily intake.

But today I'm trying this intermittent fasting thing. I ate dinner last night, woke up this morning and went workout without breakfast, drank 8 oz of water and a scoop or protein after, for lunch I drank one of those naked juice drinks. I've probably had around 450-600 calories today and that'll be it until I eat dinner tonight. Is that how it's supposed to be done? All the caloric intake was from liquids so far as well btw.

that is it. plain and simple. from now until supper is when you really feel the shedding. it also gets easier every time you do it.
