New Orleans Bar?

Buddy and his wife from Iowa will be in town this weekend . . . staying at the Hyatt where I will be joining them. Need a laid back bar to drink and talk and a local hole in the wall place to eat later on . . . suggestions?

Grape Vine hands down. Great food also. They have a happy hour a glass of wine $5 or the whole bottle $18.

Victory Bar on Barrone is a great place to sit and drink. It has private tables and a great atmosphere.

If you're willing to spend a little, hit Meauxbar or Sylvain. Both are low key but have really great food.

Last time I was there (quite some time ago) this older black gentleman pulled a knife on this small gay guy for stopping a really drunk rich white girl with daddy issues from going home with the black guy. It was intense.
I would suggest cellar door for drinks and Borgne for food if you don't feel like walking much. Not a ton of good hole in the wall type food places in Warehouse District, Quarter, or CBD.
