Lifelong resident of Nola who recently moved to Lafayette. Really haven't explored the myriad number of restaurants that opened in the last 2-3 years. Looking for dinner sugestions in a couple weeks. Would like to stay either in CBD or Uptown. Side note, I've always wanted to try Coquette and Lilette...anyone have an opinion on those? Thanks in advance.

Coquette is awesome. The Tuesday night thing they are doing this Summer is an amazing deal.

But look, this is a very broad question, we could probably give you hundreds of places.

Come with very specific things you're looking for.

Also, nomenu.com (say what you will about TFitz, but the site can be useful) has useful lists broken down by Cuisine and neighborhood, and nola.eater.com is a great resource as well.

I give the nod to Coquette over Lilette, but not by much.

Sorry, I know this is a very general question. I've been thinking how to narrow it down, but I just wanna try something new. So basically, you're top 3 restaurants that have opened up in last 2-3 years. Uptown or CBD.

Seems LPG and Coquette have been open longer than 2-3 years. I think LPG was open before the storm with Devillier buying it some time after and Coquette was around before the Saints had a Lombardi.

First of all, while Lilette and Coquette have been open longer than 2-3 years, they're both excellent (Lilette > Coquette, imo).

In the last 2-3 years?

C'mon Man!

Even Root is almost 5 years old. LPG made a decade last March and Coquette opened around 2008.

However the recommendations are solid.

Coquette is my favorite restaurant in New Orleans. Lilette is really good, but not as good as Coquette.

If you haven't been to Peche, which is in it's second year, I think, I'd consider going there for a meal. It works well for lunch if you have lunch available. It's in the warehouse district next to the CBD.

Off the top of my head, I'd recommend:
Peche
Shaya
Compere Lapin
Avo
Mariza (not CBD or uptown)
Meauxbar (not CBD or uptown)

Others that come to mind, but I don't really vouch for:
Square Root
Purloo
Angeline
Primitivo
Sac-a-lait
Balise
Ursa Major
New Brennans
Johnny Sanchez

Wife and I checked out Trenasse recently and really enjoyed it. It's at the Hotel Intercontinental on St. Charles near Poydras. Kinda low-key and not crazy expensive.
