Gumbo And Lagniappe From Spahr's

Stopped for lunch at Spahr's on my way home to Metairie from Thibodaux today and ordered a bowl of seafood gumbo. It was great, as I had been told it would be. While I was eating though, the manager came up to me, asked what car I was driving, and informed me I had a flat tire.
She asked for my keys and said she'd have someone put on my spare so that it would be ready when I finished eating. It was. Wouldn't take any money for it.
So this is just to say thank you to Spahr's - great gumbo and great service!

I'm sure you will, and may already have, but that kind of service deserves a note to the general manager.

Thib or Des Allemands? I eat at the DA location pretty often on my way home from the camp and have always enjoyed the catfish and the gumbo

CSB, one time I was sitting against the back window on the water and saw a guy fly in there on his bass boat and start pitching around the dock out back. About 10 minutes later he caught a 6lb bass.

That's quite a story. Small town stuff. Love it.

Now that is a cool story. That's above and beyond for customer service.
I have always wondered about the place which I drive by often on fishing trips. Usually we are too tired or dirty on the way back to stop at a decent restaurant.

Wow, that's certainly above and beyond customer service. I'm hardly ever out that way, but went to that Spahr's near DA once and really enjoyed it.

Gotta love that bayou hospitality. I like Spahr's gumbo too. My old favorite dish on the menu--catfish sauce piquante--got dropped after the big fire/renovation. It was good stuff.

Stadium Rat,
I appreciate your kind words!!!!!! I just received this on our website and I would like to contact you tomorrow morning to speak with you about this. This is the kind of hospitality we take pride in and I want to reward the manager and employee who changed your tire with a cash bonus. What is a good time to contact you tomorrow?

This is awesome.
My paw-paw and his friends used to drive from Houma to the DA location once a week to eat.

Are you guys still using those good Des Allemands wild catfish?
I went to Little Italy in BR for my 10th grade homecoming in my 1970 Cutlass, hit a pothole in the parking lot and ripped the gas tank open. We had free dinner, smelling like gas and rode to the dance in Goodwood Mobil's wrecker. They bought me a new gas tank from a junkyard and his nephew installed it. True story and my date and I still laugh about it. Good people do good things.

I love the catfish chips. It's my favorite place to get fried catfish.
