It just depends I guess. If someone recommended a place that is an absolute must, then I would try it if it fit our plans. I wouldn't be interested in spending more than $100 a plate.

What cuisines are you looking to try?

Definitely Italian and a good Steak. I wouldn't mind some good chinese but it would have to be take out because the wife hates chinese food. We will be eating out on Thurs, Fri, and Sat night.

Any chefs you want to eat at their place?

I don't know, someone told me to eat at Bobby Flay's Bar Americain, and another said Batalis Babbo, although I'm sure there are better chefs that aren't as commercial. Got any recommendations? thanks

Very true. But outside rush hours you're hopefully good. Definitely things to consider, but dependent on certain circumstances. I would do trains and subs single or with guys. But not with a misses.

See my list. A hidden treasure is Mezzagiorno at the corner of Sullivan and Spring in Soho.

famous eatery - Halal cart at 53rd and 6th, Lombardi's
fine dining/steak - Strip House, Keen's
pizza - Keste Pizza and Wine, Grimaldi's
deli - 2nd Ave Deli, Russ and Daughter's, Kossar's Bialys
burger - Lucky's Famous, The Burger Joint at Le Parker Meridien Hotel (it's hidden away.. to the left when you walk through the lobby)

i'd also recommend Ed's Lobster Bar (great food plus it's in a nice neighborhood to walk around, shop, drink, etc..), Land Thai Kitchen (best thai food outside of Queens)

ate here on my last visit...food was decent, my only qualm was the atmosphere has a chain restaurant feel.

Dinner menu was kind of small, but adventurous and versatile. Drinks werent too expensive either, surprisingly.

ive also stayed in that same Hilton before. It wasn't bad for Times Square(price wise) though the rooms are pretty small, but as someone mentioned, i enjoyed it more when i stayed in midtown @ the NY Palace.

Agreed.

I wasn't unimpressed, but I kind of feel like pizza like I do about hamburgers. Find the right set of ingredients on a hamburger might take a few trys, but once you get "high end" on either pizza or hamburger there are only so many preparation options to distinguish them.

It was good, but nothing I would rant and rave about like some New Yorkers like to do about their pizza.

But you can talk to ten different NYers and they will all tell you 5 different places to get the best pizza in NYC.

If you make your way to the stadium during gameday, be sure to try some of the street vendors. We had some of the best kabobs there. Still not sure what kinda meat it was but damn it was good.

And hit the espn zone, coldest beer in the city.

If you like sushi:

Morimoto

If you like Thai, this restaurant was started by the people who did Indochine. (In doe sheen) Very famous downtown restaurant in the 80's. Kittichai is a very hip place. Call for reservations and dress like you've been somewhere.. It's in SOHO and it's alot of fun.

5 napkin burger in hell's kitchen was damn good. we spent a good bit of time in Chelsea area and just ate at wherever we saw that looked decent, wasn't disappointed the whole time. Of course I don't go in expecting to be let down like a lot of people tend to do.
