1. It doesn't matter what opens in BR. The best restaurants in NOLA could open a "branch" in BR and the NOLAnites would downplay it. (Not saying Dragos is good-never been).

2. I'm not ordering Lobster in NOLA, BBQ in Seattle or gulf oysters in Maine.

pretty much as long as they're fresh and not pasteurized and opened properly. why are you trolling so hard?

Because I don't think all oysters are the same.
Are all shrimp the same ? Crawfish ? Crabs ?

I'm not sure if I was expecting to see this angle or someone saying the nola folks would be pimping nola places too hard if they opened in Baton Rouge.

I strongly believe that some lobsters are better than others due to freshness. If you get one that has been sitting in the tank at the grocery store or worse, a frozen tail, you are dealing with an inferior product.
Dragos sells a shite load of lobster so they are always fresh.

I know in the past due to family history/connections they had access to very good oyster leases and seemed to have bigger oysters than most places.

And they aren't. It very much matters where they come from, but as a consumer, most of us don't have a clue where they are pulled when ordering a dozen raw gulf oysters. People just take it for good/not good gulf oysters.

Galatoire's failed in that area because the food just wasn't that great.
That's stupid. And from my understanding, it was more of a wanting to get out of lease and in to a more lunch friendly area.

Either Dragos or one of the other NOLA rip offs.

Maybe Rum House for fish tacos?
O...Brah, you just can't help yourself can you? .

It happens just like it happens the other way around. Some people's children...They just can't enjoy seeing anybody get a new toy.

I think most people will agree that the food is not great.
Yes they moved to a better location to get more people into the restaurant. But do you really think they would have needed to move if the food was great?

My point is that a good quality fresh raw gulf oyster will taste he same anywhwere. Same with fresh live lobster.

If fresh and prepared the same way, then yes, they are all the same. God damn you're being dense.

Sorry but I disagree with you on this.

Where in this thread have the NOLAtards downplayed this place opening in BR ? I was under the impression Dragos was a meh place to begin with on this board.

Then explain how an oyster from the same bed tastes different at Dragos than Acme.

All gulf oysters are definitely not the same. There's a difference in the size, for instance, of raw oysters between Parrains and the chimes, as an example. Also a difference in the freshness, imo.

Oyster from different water ways can taste different. For instance I prefer Texas oysters to LA. I find they are saltier compared to say oysters out of Barataria bay, which I find to be a sweeter and not as briny.

Also where a restaurant is sourcing the oysters makes a difference too. Every oyster is unique just like crawfish. You've heard of select crawfish right ? I can tell you from experience that a sack of oysters from P&J are far superior to the ones at Restaurant Depot. Now time of year plays a roll into this also.

Why do some of the better oyster joints tell you the areas the oysters came from ? Is it because all oysters are the same ?

When Mr. Ed bought Bozo's he didn't just buy the restaurant but he also bought the oyster beds. I'm sure he could have found cheaper oysters to sell but knew he was getting a superior product.

Ok buddy. You win. Most fresh Louisiana oysters taste the same. They may vary in saltiness but it's the same basic product.

Texas gulf oysters are cleaner and saltier in general. But a fricking live cold water lobster is a lobster is a lobster.
