There's a difference in the size, for instance, of raw oysters between Parrains and the chimes, as an example

Given the common ownership, I'm not sure that was your best example. Parrains and Acme would have been better. And how they are stored, how long they are stored, how they are opened, and what kind of goop they schlop on them (chargrilled) can all affect the dining experience.

ETA: I'd still like for someone to offer suggestions on how anyone will be able to drive there to enjoy happy hour oyster specials. Go park on Highland (either direction) at 5:00 any evening during the week and get back with me.

All I know is that I've been far more pleased with oysters at Parrains than chimes. That may be due to the fact that one is a legitimate restaurant and the other is a college bar and restaurant.

So the Chimes is not legitimate? Its bank account would argue otherwise.

drove by there today... the back part of the lot goes downhill. Would they just fill it in or something to make it level?

Not what I'm arguing but ok.
It's not preposterous that the owner would select the best of the bunch to go to one location and the rest to go to another place. Whatever the reasons, I've had bigger and better oysters at Parrains than at chimes. Never had acmes for comparisons sake

So because you've had bigger oysters at Parrains, that's evidence enough to call Chimes an illegitimate "college bar and restaurant"? Okay buddy.

The Chimes is Ok for what it is, and it sure as hell is better than Sammy's, but some people make it out to be much better than it is. Not to mention I'm still po'd that they took my favorite item off the menu.
