The original Rubys was under the overpass. When they built off College they sold that to Smokie and it became the first George's.

After Rubys closed off College it was another restaurant that didn't last long and then Phil's Oyster Bar closed on Govt and moved there. They didn't last long either.

Steak and Ale and Ground Pati are a couple more.

Bonanza and Western Sizzler. Black Angus was before LaFondas in the Airline Highway building which is now a parking lot. The restaurant and bar at the top of the tower on Florida and Cloud Drive. Republic Tower I believe.

Shipleys and Tonys Donuts.

Del Lago was the original in the Ninfas building. The original Mike Anderson's in the old beat up two story house on Highland Road.

Shoney's Big Boy when is was worth a shite, Tiffin Inn Pancake House on Airline and just down the street was Shakeys Pizza. The Pitt Grills around town. Mops Meat Pies which was in an old Pitt Grill on Govt, now Rotollos.

Was ground pati good? I seem to remember going there when I was young, but don't remember much about it.

Not many have, but a few have, mentioned Chalet Brandt. Chalet Brandt was undeniably one of the best restaurants Louisiana has ever had. Back in the 80s and 90s I'd say it was one of the best restaurants in America.

Is that Fast Track inside the gas station on LA 70 en route to Sunshine Bridge still there? It was a few years ago, and you could still get the Big O

I ate at Chalet Brandt before my senior prom in 92, and it was DAMN good.

As for Ground Pati, I really liked it. I've also eaten at the ones in Houma and Lafayette and the burgers were always great... banana shakes were legit, too.

Yes. It has a fast track sign above the counter. I don't know if you can get a big O there or not.

Well I certainly enjoyed it but this just might be a bit of a stretch.

Western Sizzler

Used to got there all the time. It's still one of our sentimental favorites. I got to go to one a few months ago while driving through Meridian.
