Roma Deli is the first one I always think of in these discussions. Loved their sandwiches.

Bono's Pizza -- $2.75 for a 10" cheese was nice for a broke college student

Round The Corner

Rax

Giamanco's

Byronz

Vince's (never ate there, but I do remember it)

Vince Sotile's

The Caterie -- The Catfish Acadienne lunch special was one of BR's hidden treasures. RIP

Hopper's (part II -- the first was before my time)

And don't give me that crap about it not being the real Hopper's. The guy turned the milk shake upside down and it didn't fall out. That's good enough for me.

M's Fine and Mellow Cafe. Best pizza I've had. Better than Blaze even.

If I remember correctly, didn't he close because he was sick of getting robbed?

Phil's Oyster Bar
There was a Mexican place at Catfish Town that I remember liking. Don't remember the name.

Which I believe originated at Ted Drewes in St Louis. I have several pints in one of my freezers.

And to add to the frequent thread, The Village, Jack Sabins, Joeys - all Distephano restaurants, Lumms "Boiled in Beer" hot dogs, Wesley's at Broadmoor Theater, the Jewish Deli on Govt Street, Little Italy on Florida Street, Rips Huddle bar downtown, Cotton Club, Mickeys Golden Nugget, Europes -what was the joint before Dons on Airline? Two Chinese? Two Japs? Whatever. Bob and Jakes, The Place, above mentioned Giamancos, Phil's Oyster Bar, Blimpies at University Shopping Center, Chinese Inn on Airline, Mr. Wongs Peking Garden- first on Florida Blvd then Corporate Square-"no more zombie for you-you pull pants down!" Burger Chef, Bonapartes and Danny's Fried Chicken.

That's enough for now.

I tried to track down the old recipes - owner died. Found a cook who is now living in Southern California and still cooking - he made contact and I never heard from him again. Roma Deli was just starting to get the South BTR crowd coming in when the owner had to shut the doors. Roma Style!
