Fat Cow has been written off since it opened. Shame because they could easily be so much better.

I haven't gone to Pinetta's again after my spaghetti sauce was watery.

Service is horrible, food not any better - although my lasagna was pretty good. The rest of my party did not like their food at all. One dish of ravioli looked like they put the water from cooking in with the sauce.

B.J.'s is consistently inconsistent. You have to go eat during non peak hours to get hot food and even then it's not very impressive.

Went to Ruffinos once. Overpriced bullshite. Nine dollars for just fricking noodles made me laugh.

Nando's...Food was very disappointing

I've been twice. Not as good as the original Ninfa's, however I will continue to keep them in my rotation because they make homemade flour tortillas.

No other Tex Mex place in town can top Mi Padres in Prairieville. They run a good clean ship over there and are always hustling.

I don't think there is a better mediocre restaurant in Baton Rouge than CCG.

For my written off, I'm gonna say Dempsey's. No real complaints. It's just a restaurant I used to go to, but don't anymore, and I can't think of good reason to go back.

Dempsey's is mediocre at best. Never really understood the hype and praise it gets.

Forgot about George's and Melting Pot -- definitely won't be returning to either of them. Jay's on Sherwood is another.

I have never had the "bad" experience folks speak of, either. Some are better than others, but they are consistant enough for a locally owned high-end establishment.

That said, Ive eaten there a ton and have never ordered an italian dish.... always beef or seafood. I really enjoy the "steakhouse" portion of the restraunt now that they are dry aging their own beef.

Regardless of my enjoyment of the place, it is run by top notch folks. I know some catch heat on here - but in my experiences, they have all been incredibly accomodating and professional.... both owners & managers.

I agree w CCG, but my wife likes their shoestring fries so she has to go for a burger periodically. I can usually find something decent to eat

Dempseys - has been a while for me too.... but I have always enjoyed their chick/saus gumbo and they are run by good local folks. I will continue to support.

Georges - not so much on any of the above comments

Capital City Grill is an alright downtown lunch spot... went a few weeks ago and their chicken fried steak special was excellent.

I've never been for dinner though.

What timbo said about George's. when Smokey used his Council position to bully the food trucks, he lost my business for good unless ownership changes.

Pelican House. I know the principals in this venture quite well, but asking me to pay a cover charge when I'm trying to stop in for an early dinner soured me for good.

ETA after reading through the rest of the thread. Ruffinos has always been good to me other than the time the server brought me and Jones and LL another bottle of wine we clearly didn't order or need.

And Sammy for caving in to that tPOS and siding with her over the Judge. Done

Tsunami. The sushi is ok but nothing special.

It's not that I hate the place or anything, but I can just think of a number of places where the rolls are better and usually a bit cheaper, so why go back?

Bar Louie is a good one. Everything I've tried has been awful.. Things you'd never think could be awful.
