.what the Copelands need to do is get rid of the heavy, cream-laden food and move towards lighter, more flavorful options that will attract a different customer base.
They tried that around 2004 -2007 with that light menu they would give you. There was a time when they gave you three menus, the normal one, the steakhouse one and the light menu.
I don't know what they are doing, I worked there when I was screwing off as LSU in the early aughts.

I would go to that theater more often but it's closer for me to go to Clearview or Elmwood. I've been to it twice and thought it was a nice theater...a lot nicer than that other theater that was by Esplanade.

I know they had a low calorie menu...but you get what I mean. They should focus on using fresher ingredients...or even look at what Zea's is doing in terms of 'local chains'.

I prefer Copeland's to Zea's.
I think I have been to Zea's three times total, and I could almost walk there.
I really really hate that Olive Garden, and I have to eat it sometimes. yack.
I get what you mean though, more of a farm to table concept, les prepared heavy sauces.
Copeland's though was always cajun/creole which many times is heavy, but they always had a lot of lighter fare. and Diversified always bought local produce and meats, so they were a leg up on Sysco.

people might call me crazy about this, but i'm going to say it anyway.
i think modernizing the inside is a bad idea. historically, there are no longer any mid 1980's fast food decors left in new orleans. when i go in there, it's like stepping back in time. a time warp to the 80's. even the menu board retains that mid 80's look.
people prob will laugh at me, but if you don't preserve it, in 40 years, there will be none left, and then you'll wish you had. i think it's sad to lose the past like that. even if you think the past is trashy or tacky, some of it needs to be preserved.
taco tico veterans reminds me of the 1980's movie lover boy with patrick dempsey. the restaurant where he works.

Driving down Vets this morning this thread had me looking at all the buildings. The Kmart down by Power/David Dr has to be up there in age. I remember going to the Showbiz pizza next store as a kid. I also remember the old Security sporting good stores. I bought my first pair of cleats there. Back then the place was old and dated.

True. That was originally built as G.E.X. - Government Employees Exchange, the 1st members-only store I ever encountered.

Google image search is a wonderful tool.
I did personally save this, though.

Loved Showbiz!! I remember having a birthday party one year and some kid got scared shiteless when the electronic bear started his act. Kid ran the out of the shop and someone had to track him down.
Top 10 pizza in town.

It's amazing that it's still there, even if it is a CC. That ball pit must be nasty.
