The particular program I considered at LSU was VERY selective and so I tried to consider other alternative
I got into the graduate EE program at LSU with a 2.4 gpa, BS in physics. They made me jump through a few hoops, but they never once said no to my pursuit. Program you talking about?

That's not very nice to say. I know others who have graduated from SU who do quite well for themselves.

I was considering medical physics at LSU. Other options I considered were finance MS or become an actuary. I even considered computer science. These options were at other universities besides LSU.
Even though I could have gotten into another college, I knew that SU had the right learning environment for me.

The ones I've met have all been:
A. really terrible public school teachers (as in 8th grade English teachers who couldn't pronounce the word "tunic".)
B. State employees (think DMV)
C. elected officials (city judges, local councilmen, state legislators, ect)
So take that for what it's worth.

All schools are going to have graduates which perform subpar in their career fields.
Success in certain careers depends not only on intellect but also your personal ambition. If the only people you have met were SU graduates not reaching their full potential, then I can understand why you are antagonistic.
However, I have met some very bright individuals at SU who are performing well in different careers, so we will just have to agree to disagree.

I think you've made your point.

In the case of judges, I would have to say that Southern Law graduates are generally considered less competent and knowledgeable than their colleagues from Tulane and LSU. However, there are still some very good Southern judges out there.

I have had experience with only 2 SU grads in my 15 yrs experience in my field (in healthcare, which requires at least an MS if not a non-PhD Doctorate) of the two, the first graduated with an M.Ed., and worked under a provisional lic.for a year, afterward was relegated to assistant, as she needed a lic. supervisor to sign off all her pprwk...because she couldn't pass the NTE (general knowledge OR specialty area) after 6 (six) attempts. We had to let her go in 2003 when Medicare no longer accepted her services as "skilled".
The other took two years to get licensed, but made it.
She was let go a year later for serious documentation deficiencies. Never learned Medicare rules.

I get what your trying to say. All I know is that I will be a competent and knowledgeable engineer once I graduate from Southern University with my Masters of Engineering.

I worked with two Southern Grads. One was the best IT guy I ever worked with. The other was a high ranking executive in the company. Both were awesome.
Bro, stop worrying. I have worked with amazing people who graduated from Southern, Nicholls, and Southeastern. I have also worked with idiots from LSU (great LSU grads too).
Work hard, make sacrifices, prove your self, and dominate. The hookers and blow will follow.

It depends on the individual. I know SU grads who are doing great things but I will say on average those SU grads have mostly undergraduate degrees from SU only. And, the SU grads who I know who are doing great things went to SU because of proximity to family, they were given a lot of scholarship money, etc. In other words, these SU grads would've succeeded wherever they went to college.
Now, I went to SU out of high school for three semesters and then transferred to LSU. SU just wasn't my thing from a customer service point of view. In other words, I feel students at LSU have better relationships with their professors and are given better treatment than at SU. When I was at LSU Mark Emmert was Chancellor and it was normal to see him walking around and speaking with students. I didn't see SU administrators doing the same at SU. And, I don't like to feel I'm being taken for granted by anyone; I don't give a damn if I share the same race with the person mistreating me.

I've worked with one Southern grad. She got fired for being lazy which is a hard thing to do in education. However, I view the school like any other school.
