Truth is I could have went to ULL or McNeese. The particular program I considered at LSU was VERY selective and so I tried to consider other alternatives.
I jumped at the chance to do Engineering at SU because I liked their curriculum, cost, and "easy going" atmosphere.

I've interviewed many Southern grads and have yet to be impressed with one. I actually hired one several years back as we were desperate for help in a short time. He seemed far above the rest that I have interviewed from SU yet he lasted less than 6 months. He was incapable of performing basic engineering, stuff that is 4th and 5th semester skills. He finally realized that whenever he was assigned a task more than simple math, he would have to admit he didn't know how. It was sad.
As for the other interviews, there are so many things that go wrong. Most fail to even show a "professional attitude." Coming to an interview in jeans and a polo for a (pre)professional position is a huge strike right off. Trying to skirt by using catch phrases and buzz words is bad enough, but using them in completely incorrect context is just plain dumb. Showing no enthusiasm and constantly giving 3 word responses is never going to score a position. I don't care if the question is technically "answerable" in a single word, you must expand on it. Make me interested in you.
This is a good anecdote generally speaking. Thanks for the input.

Don't know any grads, but their band is entertaining.

I can understand how this can be concerning to any employer. All I can tell you is that I personally believe in professional attire when interviewing for a job.

I am not naive. I made the best decision given the choices that I had. I have a goal that I am aiming to achieve, and SU is helping me to reach it.

Who you trying to convince, hombre?

The ones I met are competent skilled professionals. I work in healthcare.

Well you better find a damn good internship so you can learn the basics

Well good on you. If you really know/did all the stuff on your resume that I dug up, you'll have no problem getting an engineering job wherever you want when you get that degree.

Yep, you are Southern material...

I know your partially joking. Southern at least teaches the basics of engineering well.

Why do you have doubts about ULL

So you left Tech, which has (or at least use to have) a good engineering program to go to SU for the experience?
You then continue to post questions about SU?
Please elaborate.

To be honest, I ask these questions because I have no experience with southern louisiana culture. I grew up in central la and most of my college experience was in northern louisiana.
However, ever since I moved to BR, I want to know more about the schools and general employer/education relationship.
As for Tech, it has great engineering programs but I just no longer wanted to be in that environment. I have no issue with tackling hard topics, but I feel Tech takes an abrasive approach with some things. The

You didn't check on graduation rates, placement, and overall reputation prior to enrolling in graduate school? I have no experience with the SU engineering grad program but before I spent the $$, and more importantly, invested the time then those would have been given a much higher priority than "the experience."
Regardless, hope it works out for you.

Graduation rates, yes
Job placement, yes
Reputation, no
If anything I assumed people would be impressed I graduated from SU since the rate is low.

I know the truth about the low graduation rate. But look at it this way, graduating from a school and being content is what should matter
