This looks very bad for the BVI and USVI again, right?

And ST. Maarten, too.
Heaven help these folks.

On the verge of Cat 3 this morning. The recon data is pretty surprising.

So far.
You are hoping that ridge pulls her away. There were models that took here into the E. Coast and/or Georgia/SCar line.
edit: Were talking about 5 days + though right now. Nobody really knows.
edit2: Looks like they are diving in again now.

Excuse my ignorance over the matter, but when PR takes a direct hit, how much of the rescue and recovery is the responsibility of the US Govmt and FEMA?

One positive note, looking further down the road it is looking less and less likely that at least Florida and the Bahamas will take a hit this time around. It is still very bad for the NE Caribbean islands, P.R. and possible D.R. Making me almost nauseous for those people and what they could be facing in the next couple of days. I really do hope and pray it misses them somehow or at least is not as bad as it is looking right now.

Her tropical Storm force winds go out pretty darn far from center.
What is going on this season? These hurricanes are taking steroids???

Guess the prediction of "This year is going to be a bad season" finally came through.
Im trying to get in touch with family on St. John now seeing what they are doing to prepare.
Wondering if the recuse effort people are helping them secure things down or if they are just still trying to piece things back together after Irma.

Why didn't they leave? Nearly all of my friends have left St. John. They'll be without power for months and food and water is currently being rationed and their supply chain is about to take a serious hit. After this hits who knows how bad it will be there?

It isn't even to this point yet. It's a complete shitshow.

Hope so. My wife is flying down to Daytona Beach in two days to spend a week with some friends.

1st, I fat fingered a downvote when trying to upvote
2nd, yes, the model trends over night were encouraging but I have little faith in the future track of Jose. In the short-term, the ridge to the NE will determine the track over the next couple of days. Then beyond that, Jose throws a wrench into the usual ULL & ridge issues.
