Maria got assigned clean up duty.

Remember the folks in the Irma thread that said those islands would come back quick? Ehhh not so fast...

Damn.... I just booked a trip to Punta Cana for 20ppl in April, 2018. Hopefully it doesn't get hit too hard and can bounce back. I remember when Wilma hit Cozumel those folks busted their arse and had the first cruise ship docking back to the island within 30 days

I spent the weekend cleaning up my vacation house at St Augustine beach. I just went ahead and prepared it for the next one to hit.

No damage but, shite everywhere. I had a pile of limbs the size of an SUV. Had to empty the fridge. The outside was covered in salt. I had to wash everything outside.

Maria looks poised for some rapid intesification this evening.

Nope. No dry air intrusion here.

Symmetric convection firing right over the core. Recon showing a steady pressure drop this afternoon. Eyes on Maria tonight.

Could we see a fujiwhara effect with Jose and Maria?

Jose is project to go north around New York then turn straight around and come back south now. If Maria turns northeast around Florida could this potentially happen

The guidance is showing it going right up the gut of PR too, and they're basically sitting perfectly centered in the cone of uncertainty. They are indeed in trouble, their best hope right now is some unforeseen act of nature.

Speaking of acts of nature, I see we have another complex mid level setup that'll determine where Maria ends up just like Irma. Hopefully this one is clearly OTS after the next few days and doesn't keep us guessing up until the final minutes.
