I live there now unfortunately. Management is awful, matinence is worse, and then you add in this shite I came home to last night. I was actually trying to sublet my apartment so I could leave for a much better apartment, but that isn't gonna happen now. Anyone ever broken a lease before? I would've never tbought to do it before but this is pretty ridiculous. Not sure what the ramifications are

Why do you say that? GF lived there when we first started dating and she loved it.

I would bet you can use this as a reason to break the lease.

It's really funny how these apartments at LSU cycle. They become all the rage, the place where the rich kids live, then the next place opens and the old ones get worn down by shitty college party animals and turn hood and the rich kids move to the next one. University crescent used to be the shite, then lake beau pre, then sterling, then the cottages

Pretty sure the Lake Beau Pre area is still relatively nice. Haven't heard any horror stories out of there.

I really hope so. I always want to stop all these parents I see on the tour they give you and just tell them it's all a bunch of bushit

Adults beyond college do the same thing with houses in the suburbs. I just recently wrapped up looking for a house to move, and you wouldn't believe how bad it is. Neighborhoods that look great from the outside until you start looking at some of the homes for sale.

Basically what happens is people want it when it's all shiny and new. Then they dog the shite out of it and have no pride nor do they take good care of it. By the time it's up for sale, the amount of work needed to be done to it nowhere come close to justifying the asking price. It took me 3 weeks just to find something decent.

The giant apartment complex bubble is going to be a disaster for BR. Eventually you'll have section 8 on all sides of campus.

Interesting. I wonder if this has anything to do with all the loans through bought about the big crash a few years ago? People get in over their heads, know they will lose the house and then dog the shite out of it. I know it can happen any time, but I wonder if it's more prevalent now?

I really doubt you can break your lease over this

Those parties really do happen all the time around there

Used to be that they'd let those kinds of parties roll for a couple of hours maybe until midnight then shut it down. Every party I've been to at the cottages has been broken up no matter how wild it was. I guess they don't give a shite anymore with the new management and all the rich kids moving out.

Student housing complexes like this are such a sham. Expensive, crowded, cheaply built, unreliable maintenance and management. I lived in one for 1 year then went back to living in an individually owned house for rent.

I'm fairly certain they would enforce the lease even if you were the guy that got shot.

Where were these robust student housing options back in late 90's - early 2000's??

What about section 8 housing for the elderly and handicapped? Do your homework...not all section 8 housing is bad. Some of it serves a legitimate purpose.

It would be much more practical to place the elderly and handicapped in complexes with special ammenities to make their lives easier than to require every complex to make accomodations for the few that want to live there under section 8.
