re: My annual plea to parents of kids starting to think about college - Taxing Tiger
Completely false. I'd be willing to bet I was middle of the pack in accounting at LSU when I graduated. I'd also be willing to bet that I'm in the top 5% when it comes to annual earnings for that same graduating class. Education is merely the first of many steps to being successful. What you put int...

re: Three things JBE could do to reduce deficit without all his new taxes & without cutting-- - Taxing Tiger
Remove the statutory restrictions on some departments/programs so we can make cuts to more than just healthcare and higher education. You'll never make real progress unless all options are on the table. Without checking, I'd venture to say that 75% of the state's budget is statutorily protected. So ...

re: Three things JBE could do to reduce deficit without all his new taxes & without cutting-- - Taxing Tiger
End S-Corps? Do you understand what you're saying? That's asinine. S-Corps are flow through entities. Those dollars are already being taxed on the individuals returns. Eliminating the Fed Inc Tax deduction will impact a large portion of LA citizens. Another terrible idea....

re: BRPD Officer Seriously Injured in I-12 Crash - Taxing Tiger
Your problem is you automatically assume he's wrong. You're part of the "they better get ticketed b/c I sure as hell would" crowd. Are they above the law? Hell no. But they sure as hell get more leeway than the everyday citizen on the road. The everyday driver doesn't have to deal with anything remo...

re: BRPD Officer Seriously Injured in I-12 Crash - Taxing Tiger
And none of us are responsible for responding to a possible home invasion at 1 in the morning. He was performing his job. Do you get ticketed if you get a paper cut in the copy room? Accidents on the job happen...regardless of occupation. Leave it at that. Some genuine a-holes who have no respect f...

re: EBRP Deputy shot on O'Neal lane. - Taxing Tiger
This man is correct. HUD insured mortgage does not equate to section 8. Two totally different federal programs. There's a ton of apartment complexes in BR and surrounding areas that have HUD insured mortgages and have market rate units. Some uniformed comments in this thread....

re: Whiskey/Bourbon/Scotch appreciation thread Volume II - Taxing Tiger
Agreed. When it comes to BT products, they've got a damn good selection. ER for the everyday drinker and Blanton's or EHTSB for the weekends. Great value. I'm afraid ER will get harder and harder to get long term. Hope I'm wrong. Blanton's and EHTSB used to be easier to find....
