Hate that it happened, but damn--are you shocked?

. I guess a police report could help with an insurance claim though.
That would be the only reason to get the police involved. If you are expecting anything more for a crime like this in Baton Rouge then this is the reaction I would expect...

Cherokee in Garden District wasn't a bad street.

Someone who lived across the street (on one of the streets off LSU Ave) tried to charge me to park on the street once I had already parked last year. I laughed.
The bad part is there are people who don't know better and really think they have to pay someone to park on the side of a road just because their house is nearby.

I know they won't waste a lot of time on it, but how about surveillance footage at the least?

Who drives 10 hours?
Just reading that makes me think you had all outdated stuff and cheap luggage, so they probably did you a favor.

Did y'all stop and pay for directions back to the interstate to continue your trip to Wally World?

I'm honestly not that much in the loop on these things, but it was a vehicle break-in. Has to be a hundred of these a week in BR. I was just assuming they would show up and write a report and then nothing would happen unless they stumbled on something at a pawn shop.

Hawaii is the worst for this. Police don't pursue the criminals B/c the victims are tourists so nobody GAS.

I had stuff stolen from me in Baton Rouge. This is exactly how it played out. The cop with whom I filed a report explicitly told me that there was close to no chance that I ever get my stuff back and to just use the report to file an insurance claim. It's standard.

C'mon man.....why on earth would you leave laptops and phones in the car? Sorry, but I can't feel too bad for you. But really, that sucks.

That's where you went wrong

This doesn't add up.
You drove 10 hours and timed it perfectly so you got into Baton Rouge just in time for the game? That would be the only explanation as to why you had your luggage and valuables in the car, right? Otherwise you would have surely dropped them off at a hotel. I can't fathom someone driving 10 hours then having the energy to tailgate all day and go to a game, or even just go to the game if you skipped the tailgating part. And if you did the unfathomable, you would have had time to drop your crap off. Unless I am also to believe you left after the game and drove another 10 hours back home. I am also assuming you did all of this with children.
No way. You are a troll. And why would your parents quit coming to LSU events because you admitted you were stupid and made bad choices? Good try. You got a lot of people to believe you, though.

I have to say you used very poor judgment leaving valuables in an unattended car for several hours in Baton Rouge La. You are lucky the car is still there.

I walked back to a well lit 102 parking lot and wondered the entire time what kind of vandalism I'd see done to my car.

Always take a limo to the game.
