I agree the pop-up at Dante's was excellent. I remember thinking he was the best of them all back then.

Blue Oak's review:

The brisket was awfully salty. The pulled pork was moist but had no taste/flavor to it!! Both meat lacked the smoke flavor (maybe the brisket had some smoke in it but the over saltiness massed it). And for the sides I had the Garlic roasted mac = pretty good and Brussels sprouts = pretty descent. Also I didn't enjoy any of the bbq sauces that were offered there. But the service there was awesome.

Have only had Blue Oak's wings, and they were great. Great happy hour prices too!

I thought The Joint was good. Not great, but good.

I really like Hillbilly, but I haven't been there in a while because they always seem to be closed when I'm near there.

I've only had the cochon de lait po boy at Walkers, and it's awesome.

I've not yet tried McClure's, or NOLA Smokehouse.

Squeal is awful.

Thanks for the feedback, we're constantly trying to improve the process. When was this?

The brisket I got was shredded/pulled; I want slabs of brisket. I thought it was weird because the yelp pictures of your brisket were slices. Pulled pork was moist but largely devoid of any smoke flavor.

Everyone enjoyed the brussel sprouts. Wings were awesome.

We do 80 cent wings and $6 orders of BBQ tacos from 5 to 7 when you mention the secret password: Happy Hour.

I've never had just normal BBQ at squeal. I have only been there twice and both times tried one of the more adventurous dishes.

Saucy's hasn't gotten mentioned by anyone else. I cannot see how they called their crap BBQ.
It was the worst.
I had a thread on it, but apparently Image Shack took down my pics.

It was hard making any kind of money over there and we had to do something different. Being open til 4 am on the weekends didn't help either.

You would expect this. As a pop-up he probably had more demand, less supply. People were getting fresh meat when it was ready. Now that he has his own place, the meat is probably cooked earlier and held longer.

Quality BBQ is really difficult if you have to cook for a certain time and have fluctuating demand.
