And Stannis might be the mentally weakest character fighting for the throne.
He's been TOTALLY manipulated by two batshit crazy chicks. To the point that he'd murder his own daughter. Killing her doesn't make him strong when its someone else pulling the strings.
Melisandre is the real MVP in this situation. She has Stannis wrapped around her finger. If she told him to eat his own dick, he'd do it.
She tried that shite with Jon and he told her to kick rocks, something Stannis couldn't do.

I love the show and look forward to it every week. GoT -> Silicon Valley is my favorite block of TV.
The people telling the story now are doing a piss poor job. The reason everyone liked the episode last week so much was for the action sequence. The story has gone to shite.

They just ruined one of their best characters for some bullshite shock scene. People liked Stannis due to the legitimacy of his claim to the throne. That's all gone now and Stannis is suddenly one of the most horrible characters on the show.
Stannis' wife who didn't even love Shireen all of a sudden has a change of heart and she can't go through with it. Meanwhile Stannis, who did love his daughter, just stands there and watches. Neither character behaved in such a way that was consistent with their development over the course of the entire series.
It was weak arse storytelling and completely unnecessary to burn Shireen alive. It was a gratuitous scene and its sole purpose was to shock viewers and get people talking about the show. But here we are so I guess they got what they wanted.
