Not really buying this logic.
Stannis himself told Melisande, "I don't have Robert's bastard anymore". Which moved Shireen into the on deck circle.
I don't understand why people argue with things that were plainly stated on the show.

The only inescapable, inexplicable, illogical, no-way-around it power move she's pulled is the MVSM.

The only way that your assertion makes sense is if you know, for a fact, that they wouldnt need to make another sacrifice at any time in the future.

I also think Davos makes it back and finds out what has happened, otherwise he's not going to be able to feel guilt that it is his fault because he let Robert's bastard free.
Yeah, it's Davos' fault for freeing an innocent boy and not Stannis' for burning his own fricking daughter alive

I'm not blaming Davos for Stannis' actions. Stannis is responsible for what he did. I just found it interesting that by Davos trying to do the right thing and freeing Robert's bastard to save his life, that the repercussions of that was that Shireen ended up having to be sacrificed.
Whether the Lord of Light would demand another sacrifice later on, who knows.
I like Davos, I was just bringing up for discussion that you don't always know what consequences your actions will create down the road.
The series seems to highlight the negative consequences that can result from a decent man trying to do the right thing and it coming back to bite him in the arse.
But saying that it is Davos' "fault" was poor wording on my part.

I understand what you're saying that Davos' actions indirectly might've led to Shireen's death.
What I think about Davos is that he would've likely done it anyway knowing Shireen was on deck and then done what he had to do to save Shireen as well. Davos would've done the right thing both times. Saving Gendry was just kicking the proverbial can up the road. I think Davos had some level of faith in Stannis' last shred of humanity that he couldn't be convinced to sacrifice Shireen. I also think that if saving both Gendry and Shireen meant defying Stannis twice, he would've done it knowing full well that it meant treason and probably his own life.

Agree 100%. If he would defy Stannis to save Gendry, who he hardly even knew, then I'm sure he would have done whatever he could to save Shireen and probably end up swinging from a rope, head chopped off or burned at the stake himself.

I agree with this. Who the hell thinks their best friend will kill their own child? fricking Stannis.

Curious to see if Uncle Kevan shows up with the Lannister army and cleans up whatever remains of the Boltons/Stannis war.
