re: Game of Thrones S5:E9:"The Dance of Dragons", HODORS ONLY(No Book Readers)

Not sure why everyone is shocked at the burning of the faux princess. They set that up a few episodes ago. It seems like the Arya and Stannis story lines actually have direction now. Hopefully, Ramsey kills off Stannis, and Jon and the rest of the north take on the WWers. The dragon riding was funny. Would have rather that beast came in and fried everyone but the queen. That woul have been more believable.

Yeah I don't agree with some of the internet reviews "OMG the Dany riding Drogon scene was so great!!!" The Falcor reference is pretty spot on

The fighting was meh. The whole set piece seemed awkward - maybe it was just the way it was shot (kind of half-arse).

It was at the same level of the Sand Snakes / Bronn / Jamie clash.

I assume Jagen knows she's full of shite. And that certainly won't help with the "become no one" angle. And Meryn Trant also seemed to notice that it was her, so he's not gonna just let her waltz right up and kill him.

Yeah, that was odd. They built up the Unsullied for half a season, and all of a sudden these Sons of Harpy dudes are working them over every other day.

I was surprised to see her fiancee' die though...I was wondering if he was in on something, but then they just walked up and stabbed him in the heart.


I really (really) hope Davos makes it back to camp so he can confront Stannis about Shireen.

It was although I thought the banter between Darrio and Mereen guy was pretty stupid. Happy he got killed though. And was he in on it or not? I thought he was when he showed up late and said "I was making sure everything was in order" but then the Harpies killed him. Thoughts?

Agreed. This was a problem the show had a couple seasons ago when every storyline kept getting split (Stark kids split from where they were, Arya split off with Hound, Brienne with Jaime, etc.). If got sort of convoluted and keeping up with everything was s chore. But then things got trimmed down (Brienne/Jaime made it back, Red Wedding cut Robb/Cat's storyline, etc.) But now it seems like things are starting to spread out again.

As of right now, we have:

- North of the Wall - White Walkers and the Wights are bring winter down finally
- At the Wall - Jon Snow finally got the wildlings to come south of the wall to help when the WWs attack
- Castle Black has all that, plus Jon Snow's shite, Sam'Gilly's shite, Alliser Thorne possibly plotting, etc.
- Winterfell - Roose/Ramsay/Sansa storylines
------ Plus the Reek thing and how that will play out
------ Plus Brienne/Pod are still around eyeballing Sansa and waiting to make a move
- In the North - Stannis not only hitting up Winterfell, but also Davos heading to Castle Black, and the red titty witch and all that (but no more Shireen, you fricking a-hole)
------ Bran/Hodor, Meera are still somewhere with the three-eyed crow thing
------ Rickon/Osha are still roaming around somewhere too
- Dorne - Bronn and Jaime bout to take Myrcella and Tristayne back to K'sL, but also the stupid fricking Snakes and Oberyns's idiot sister/lover Ellaria and what will happen with that
- King's Landing - Cersei in jail awaiting trial, Margaery doing the same, King Tommen and his council (including Mace Tyrell in Braavos), High Sparrow and the Sparrows running around fricking shite up
- Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish is still running around somewhere moving chess pieces like a grand master
- Mereen - Tyrion is finally there, as is Jorah, so that brings a few storylines together, but Varys is still missing. Dany is ruling, the fighting pits, Sons of Harpy, Grey Worm, etc.
- Braavos - Arya is there with Jagen supposed to be training, but now Mace Tyrell is there with Meryn Trant



That's all I can remember off the top of my head that is currently going on. So it sucks because you only have a certain amount of screen time to dole out. So we either get a couple minutes here and there of something, or it gets skipped altogether. We need some of these plots to start combining again. S1 of the series is so good IMO because there are only a few things going on and they have time to flesh things out and get you interested.

I was about to post this...forgot to put in my OP. I couldn't be more tired of that motherfricker Daario. The actor sucks arse, and it seems like his only reason onscreen is to flirt with Dany. Which is fine I guess, but we've seen him do it for the last few episodes. Either he's trying to impress her when she's ruling, or we see their pillow talk, or we see himg et jealous of this afro finacee' dude and they start a pissing contest. It sucks and he sucks, and it's one of the reasons I can't fricking stand Dany right now. Thankfully, Tyrion is finally there, and Drogon is fricking some shite up...at least those things have me interested.
