Gumbo or Jambalaya with tomatoes are on the list for sure.

The South Louisiana concept of "stew" infuriates me.

And my voting screw up that helped cost Johnny's the title over Commander's still haunts me daily.

Natchitoches Red Beans is a contender.

Grease gravy and not knowing to use flour for a gravy or using milk in a gravy.

Do you eat the boudin casing another.

Was the ice tea spoon on this board or Fitzmorris?

I don't know how anyone in the South in the springtime with fresh homegrown tomatoes at their fingertips can make this statement.

A homegrown, ripe, sliced tomato that makes your whole kitchen smell like a garden, sprinkled with a bit of sea salt is one of gods greatest gifts and earthly blessings.

It amazes me that people's reading comprehension was so bad on this one. The OP only said he used the microwave TO BRING THE STEAK TO ROOM TEMPERATURE, not to cook it.

Sheesh!

And do you remember that time that guy came on here wanting a "tomato based" jambalaya recipe?

I thought y'all were gonna lynch him.

Allow me to clarify:

My grandparents grow tomatoes. I eat them. Sliced and fresh, they are one of my favorite foods. I eat them with mozzarella and basil. I eat them on a sandwich with pepper. I eat them in a salad. I eat them plain. I eat them on a train and in the rain.

I will never ever ever put a fricking tomato in my Jambalaya or my gumbo. Ever.

I'd rather die.

For sheer comedic value, it's got to be Natchitoches Style Red Beans.
