Kingwood is nice enough (upper middle class probably) but The Woodlands has more of the true upper class vibe, especially now that Market Street and fat whole area opened and you can find Bentleys and such every night.

We lived in Kingwood first then moved to California. When it was time to come back to Houston, my parents chose The Woodlands because of the opportunities for teenagers (mostly better schools and more good job opportunities for teenagers). The Woodlands certainly holds more sway with Texas universities than nearly any other Texas high school and that's important when schools like UT Austin are so competitive.

The woodlands isn't outrageously priced. It's just that you can get a little bit newer house closer to downtown for the same price in other burbs. Is it worth paying that much for an hour drive everyday. If I worked in the woodlands itself, I'd pay 75k more for the same house there just to live there. But the drive drops the appeal down a bit so it's probably going to end up off our list.

The traffic is ridiculous and I had to wait almost an hour to get a table at the chain restaurant cheesecake factory last friday night. Cookie cutter/no culture. Boring as frick except for the pavilion and fishing on lake conroe.

Tell Matt to send me an email with a job offer.

And to the OP, I guess that PETE degree is paying off.

Now that you mention that I remember that was one of the biggest reason why my parents chose here over Humble and Katy. My little sister is a sophomore at The Woodlands High right now and my other sister will be a freshman next year. I can't believe how big that school is. Close to 4,000 kids

Seriously, though, the west side is awesome, and outside of the gridlock bullshite on 290, you avoid a lot of the really deep shite. Plus, the drive to the Woodlands isn't that bad from the west side.

I'm a big fan of the Woodlands, though. Growing up, my dad lived out in Cypress, and I was a member of The Woodlands. I used to drive out there during the Summer when I was off of school and play the Palmer Course and whatnot a few times a week during my stay.

Now that I'm an adult, I realize how spoiled I was on the course. Being able to call ahead for a tee time, walk in, charge food to the account, and have free tees and range balls before I played. I'd kill for that shite now!

OP you are 27 rent apartment in the city until u get feel for everything. If you are moving to the city, move to the city. Experience it. 27 is young for the woodlands.

Years ago co workers lived in Kingwood. We were all your age then. Their main complaint, "all our neighbors are old."

I just assumed he would be working in the woodlands since he asked. If he's working in Houston then midtown makes a lot more sense. There's still a surprising amount of people our age here too.

I'm sure b-rab would've showed face at his friend's tailgate and shook hands with a prospective employer who also happened to be the stepdad of said friend instead of stumbling around midtown until 30 min before kickoff

I just moved back to LA from The Woodlands, lived there for 3 years in Creekside. I'm 30 and we loved it up there. My office was on the Beltway & 249, my wife worked @ Conroe Regional so it was perfect for us. If the opportunity to move back home wouldn't of come up we would still be there. We sold our house in 24 hours, need to send Exxon a Christmas present

I'm across 290 from you in Stonegate. I'm kicking around the idea of moving to The Woodlands just because our office is over there. As long as I keep working from home 3-4 days a week, I may just stick it out here though.

Infrastructure is crap. When Houston annexed it, Kingwood was doomed.

it's far more than the things you listed.......the village centers are better as well.

Lots to do, lots to see, lots of traffic. Keeping up with the Jones is becoming very important. Nice houses, long arse commute into the city. Lots of hot house wives.

I've been here a few years on and off and love it. It's not as expensive as people will lead you to believe. It is a very well kept area.

So you bitch about the woodlands being cookie cutter but willingly CHOOSE to go to the Cheesecake Factory?
You sound like a whole lot of fun to be around...
