Was going to post this earlier but never came around to it.
Back during Wrestlemaina me and a couple of friends headed to New Orleans. It was a last minute thing so we didn't stay long.
The friend that bought the tickets only bought two for the pre-event. While that was going on I walked around 'Nola. With a little help from posters from here so I knew where I was.
I hit up a place called Manning's for breakfast then went over to the casino. Finally made way to Bourbon Street where there was nothing but bars and strip clubs.
Went to a few places and tried one of those Hand Grenades. I didn't get to spend much time down there but it was awesome.
I definitely will be returning.
TL:DR version- 'Nola was great

You missed actual New Orleans.

The general consensus here is it's an awesome place to visit but shitty place to live

You did pretty much the shittiest things in New Orleans and still love it. That's how awesome this city is.

You're just lucky to be alive.

That has changed drastically. The city is in a complete and total renaissance. It is actually pretty crazy to see.
I hope it lasts.

I went through there once for a summer camp. It was a while ago but I remember eating at Whataburger
Didn't even know they existed.
Also remember that the Houston airport is far smaller then Hartsfield and the first car bumper I saw was "If you're not republican, then frick you"

Disagree, depending on where you are in life.
Single younger person or couple without kids, pretty fun place to live.
With kids, I'd imagine it's a shitty place to live if not at baller status

You went to Manning's and came away with a positive impression? As long as you had fun, I guess

I didn't gain a true appreciation for New Orleans until I knew someone with a house down there. Previously I thought it was a fricking shithole because all I did was stay in the quarter. Now I have my favorite breakfast places, sandwich shops, restaurants, etc. It's a great city.

I didn't know anything about New Orleans expect the Saints and Bourbon Street
Plus I wasn't about to sit on my arse all morning

That's funny, virtually all of us who live there - which constitutes many people on the board- love residing here.
