I got arrested in high school while waiting on my table at El Chico's to open up. Cuffed and stuffed and charged with destruction of property. I scrathed my name on a table with approx 3800 other carvings on it.

My only horrible experience has been written here in these threads before..
.. but also: my three visits to Twin Peaks were bad enough to never return. None were as dire as some of the stories here, but the combination of all 3 was enough to never wish that place another penny.

They gave you a steak you could tell was rotten and when the manager did nothing about it, you ate it anyway?

Brown shrimp and white shrimp have different levels of iodine in them which would cause your reaction.

This was about 7 years ago so it was a completely independent steak microwaving...

Pinetta's in Baton Rouge
I ordered some sort of stuffed pastry that they claim was some Italian Ham and some special cheese.
I'm convinced to this day that it's literally a fricking ham and cheese hot pocket that they poured some shitty marinara on top of.

Wasn't so much bad as embarrassing for our young waiter.
We ordered a bottle of wine. The kid must have been on his first night on the job. When he arrived with the bottle he attempted to uncork it....not knowing how to use the leverage of the opener. The cork wouldn't budge no matter how hard he pulled.
So, he turned his back to us, put the bottle between his thighs and started jerking his torso upward. The neck of the bottle was located where an erect penis would be. Looked like he was masturbating. I started laughing.
The manager came up and showed him how to use the opener.

I ate at Glady's Chicken & Waffles in Atlanta the night before the Chik-fil-a bowl and threw up all night. I was still sick the next day and had to go through band rehearsal, march in a parade, and perform at the game.

Only one bad experience- Just a restaurant that screwed up bad with our reservations and we were not seated until an hour after our time. Service ended up being slow too.
Just wrote an email to the manager and got a phone call and email back begging me to come back in for another meal and drinks on the house. All good.
Oh, and there was that one time I ate at the Golden Corral in Kenner several years ago. Absolutely disgusting place full of pigs.

Picadiily on Sherwood. We went to the Friday AYCE, went through the line, picked out a few things like gumbo, etouffe, fried shrimp, sat down and dug in. It was so inedible we just got up and left, didn't ask for money back, didn't complain, just left and went someplace else.
I don't do drama, my wife doesn't do drama, we weren't expecting gourmet treats from a local cafeteria, just something edible.
I will never go back if they change management 100X.

On top of that, piccadillys expensive. It's like $15 a meal.

I could spend $40 in that place and still leave hungry.

Thinking back on the worst experiences I have had, I would say most of them were either in resort area, or were on Holidays. I have rules against that now. I look for places off the beaten path that the locals frequent. I never go out to eat for Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, or the like.
To answer your question, the very worst was The Palms in downtown Dallas on New Year's eve prior to an LSU arse-kicking in the old Cotton Bowl. 3 hrs, cold steaks, and couldn't find the server with a search warrant.

What Is The Worst Experience You've Ever Had At A Restaurant?
Jan 28, 2001. Some resort in Puerto Vallarta. Happened to be there during Superbowl Sunday (Ravens/Giants) and in the previous days, advertized all you can eat buffet and free alcoholic drinks for a one time price, which was pretty steep. The entire game (or until we left out of frustration), there was nothing but depleted pans in the buffet line, and drinks were nearly impossible to get. You couldn't simply obtain your free drinks from a bar or even pay for one anywhere. You had to wait for a cocktail waitress to come around, which were more scarce than those at Belle casino. It was by far the biggest rip off I can think of. At halftime, we were hungry and thirsty so got the frick out of there. It was the only Superbowl that I paid big bucks and COULDN'T have a beer in my hand.
My absolute WORST experience has to be when I was about 8 years old and had scalding coffee accidentally dumped on me by a waiter. These were the days before you sued anyone. It was probably only first to second degree burns but it hurt like hell. No one should endure physical pain when they go out to eat.
When I was even younger, I was served some milk, of which I got about halfway through before my folks noticed that it was sour.

Golden Corral in Lafayette on Ambassador Caffery. Not sure why I wanted to even try it, but I ignored my initial impression when people were standing outside the front door chain smoking.
Inside it was like a scene from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. The patrons inside the "restaurant" looked catatonic and geriatric.
The food was pasty, bland regurgitations of offerings you'd see at a bad Ryan's.
I don't ever want to step foot in that culinary and socialogical black hole ever again.

I go to the one on government occasionally and get the 4.99 chicken deal. Its pulled chicken ( likely left over fried chicken from the day before ) down in some kind of sauce with 2 sides and bread for 4.99.
They do a cachatorri sauce, an etoufee, chicken and dumplings and a few others. I usually get a salad and green beans or baked potatoes to go with it. I get it to go, then nuke it for about a minute. Its not great, but not bad. Can't beat it for 4.99.
