Thanks to everyone. I'm just getting started and really digging Turnpike Troubadours so far. As a heavy, heavy deep indi listener most my life, I'm really enjoying the change of pace.

Fowler puts on a great live show. I'd divide Texas country into three genres, with a continuum going from singer/songwriter/folk to roadhouse country to semi-rock. The progression would be as follows:

McMurtry
Todd Snider
Max Stalling
Ray Wylie Hubbard
Hayes Carll
JJW
REK
Jack Ingram (old stuff)
Jason Boland
Pat Green (old stuff)
Roger Creager
Kevin Fowler
Stoney LaRue
RRB
CCR

Wade and Randy...acoustic or full band? They're so fun to watch together.

Both full bands, hopefully they will play an acoustic encore.

They are great friends so they will most likely join each other on stage for at least one song...Randy will probably hop on with Wade and vice versa.

If RRB does the same show I've seen a couple of times now (not that they are that predictable, I've just seen them a TON in the last few months), Randy will most likely play an acoustic version of "They Call it the Hill Country". Sometimes the second encore is full band for "Interstate", sometimes "Interstate" is the last song BEFORE the encore.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on the shows afterwards. :) They are 2 of my very favorites and I've seen them both a lot lately so I'd like to know if they do anything differently

Damn boogie are you in the industry or just on the scene a lot? I will report back, I've seen both of them many times in the past, not so much recently life has been getting in the way I wish this was part of the Hold My Beer and Watch This tour, but it will be a great show regardless (small venue).

Up and Coming: Turnpike Troubadours is the best of the new ones. I like Zac Walther Band and Emory Quinn too.
Best of the past 10 years: Jason Boland, Aaron Watson, Reckless Kelly, Randy Rogers Band
Old Faithful: Boland could probably be in this category

They're my friends, they play around here a lot, I get in for free and I don't have to pay for beer. Why wouldn't I go?

Actually, it will slow down pretty soon here, festival season's coming to a close. Randy will start up again at the beginning of the year, though, with his new album coming out and everything.

Actually, Wade's show's been different the last few times...it's Randy I'm picking on . Not my fault, maybe he should change his set list up a little bit!

ETA: Still one of my favorite shows and always entertaining even if I know exactly what he's going to play. :)

That's what I'm getting my baby niece for Christmas! A bunch of my buds are on it and the proceeds go to a great cause. Plus, it will give her mom and dad a little break from the normal kiddie music they'll inevitably get stuck listening to.

Gross! Absolutely not. Nothing attractive about him. I've met him a couple of times and he's arrogant as shite and she terrorizes everyone within 50 feet, especially women. Plus, I don't like his music. I could forgive that if they were at all pleasant but they're not.

For the record, it's just a personal opinion, and I've never said M's a slut, just a twat :). But if other people happen to be a fan they're more than welcome to support whomever they choose.

We are having a baby girl in March, and I jumped all over this
She will listen to plenty of this and The Asylum Street Spankers "Mommy Says No"

They are playing at One Eyed Jack's 11/15 in NOLA. Emory Quinn isn't all that impressive IMO, the band that is opening for them-The Wheeler Brothers-are however quite impressive.

I suggest all of you make it a point to see The Wheeler Brothers, then stick around and listen to EQ sing about...whatever the frick it is they sing about.

Paul Eason sounds exactly like Pat Green.

It's fricking uncanny.
