99.6 but close enough, solid point.

I will support him if he's the guy.

I just don't like Temple (cringe) and so much of the old guard coming out for this guy (and what seems to be) pressuring Alleva publicly...a guy whose resume isn't all that spectacular. Reminds me of a darker time surrounding LSU football.

his players liked him, played hard for him and Johnny would have gotten that job if they didn't throw money at Calipari....that is a FACT

In other words, if they hadn't thrown a bunch of money at Calipari they would have had a bunch of mediocre basketball.

This should be a lesson for LSU, if Nick Saban wasn't.

THROW THE F---G MONEY!!!!!

And if there are a bunch of nostalgic sycophants pumping JJ, then it's okay to bash him in order to prevent disappointment.

Why take a risk when you don't have to? LSU has a giant athletic budget, why hire someone who is unproven? The guy has 0 tournament wins!

Florida basketball took a risk on a guy with 2 years head coaching experience, zero postseason games, and who never broke the 20 win mark in those 2 seasons....

Didn't he coach in the Big East.....

How many of those 20 wins came against credible teams? Or did he stack his pre-season slate with directional schools?

Donovan coached at Marshall. Won 18 games in year 1, 17 in year 2.

And thats the worst part IMO. Not his fault. It sucks but I wouldnt be heartbroken if he got hired. I'd still buy season tickets

I would still go to the games and support Jones if he were named the coach. I just don't like the fact that some parties are trying to use their influence (or perceived influence) to simply say "Jones is the guy. No need for a search. Don't try to get anyone with "skins on the wall" to come to LSU, it will never happen."

If at the end of the process, Jones is the best person for the job, then great, see ya next year in the PMAC.

I'm not hating on anyone, nor telling people how to post. Feel free to post away. I am just pointing out, nicely, that Jones is a good guy who probably won't get the job. No reason for scorched Earth.

And that's what we need. A young "hidden gem" that the fans no very little about. A guy who has to come in and prove himself and is willing to work hard to do it.

Not sure what point you are attempting to make, but what makes you believe LSU should be taking a risk with this hire?

We didn't take a risk with TJ and....

It happens, but flops more than it becomes a huge success. It's always a risk with an "up and comer" and I am positive LSU will go that route.

If he can recruit players here then great because I feel basketball these days is about 99% recruiting and 1% coaching.

big fricking trouble then.

Louisiana had NO players in the rivals top 100 last 2011-2012 class.

he better be able to teach fundamentals then,
and his assistants better too.

PS. I watched Calipari coach UK team on ESPN in the fall. He is a good coach. Not just a recruiter. His way of language-ing his feedback was unique and effective.
So... even with top players, 80% recruiting and 20% coaching.

It may be in LSU's best interest to hire Jones and end the political unrest of the Trent era.
Another "slam dunk" new face who doesn't realize the landscape may end the same way 4 years from now, with bare cupboards.

no established and successful HC would want any part of it.

the team is presently mediocre, and the state is not a top basketball area.

Remember when there was chatter about Les Miles taking the Mich job? I said it would not happen, for one reason.
Louisiana has a LOT of high end recruits (40 on rivals) and Michigan does not (10 or 15 on rivals, about like Kentucky).

I've seen a lot more bashing of Alleva for considering him than bashing of Jones for being considered.

Why continue to post shite about this when you know it has zero legitimacy? You know his name was cleared so stfu about it.

If the "slam dunk" comes in and wins year in and year out, the "landscape" will change and those who feel they have power now will quickly fade into the background

Zero legitimacy? Then the NCAA just handed down these horrendous sanctions just because?

They handed down horrendous sanctions because Dale called them the Gestapo.
