Dude, that is weak. How long was Saban at Michigan State before coming to LSU?

Assistant coach is totally different from head coach and you know it.

Johnny Jones is now the Nick Saban of college basketball.

Are you really comparing Nick Saban to JJ?

Well for one he was fairly successful in the Big 10 which was pretty good at the time......(while having to recruit against Michigan). Which he was highly coveted by other teams.

He was a successful defensive coordinator in the NFL which I believe he coached in a handful of playoff games.

So, how many other teams have knocked JJ's door down trying to get an interview while he has been at North Texas? How many NBA benches has he sat on? How many teams has he had success with in a major conference, while recruiting against a traditional in-state power?

Exactly, which is why I don't understand those people wanting him for what he did as an assistant coach at LSU..

What's weak about it? Point is: you can't always judge a coach by their past accomplishments if they haven't gotten a prime job yet.

After ten years, why is Jones still at North Texas?

I would say Saban's accomplishments at East Lansing and earlier easily distance themselves from what Jones has accomplished.

I can't believe this was asked.

Wtf does that have to do with anything? Truth is, nobody knows how well he would do here. He's a risk hire. Automatically assuming he will fail is just stupid.

Not sure what point you are attempting to make, but what makes you believe LSU should be taking a risk with this hire? That's our argument.

Incorrect. He was a coach for one (1986) and played in one (1981).

Why take a risk when you don't have to? LSU has a giant athletic budget, why hire someone who is unproven?

The guy has 0 tournament wins!

Defensive coordinator of the Rose Bowl champions is > than an assistant down the bench with a rolled up program saying "hey, what was that?"

He 'asst coached LSU to 2 final fours' ? Really?

99.7 percent of the people on this board don't know shite about Johnny jones, much less any other candidate.

If coaches were hired solely off their win loss record and Internet reputation, it would be one fricked up association.

This is why the process takes a while. You poke and prod, just like any other big job anywhere else.

With that being said, this is a discussion forum. Some people believe with good reason that he is not the man. If they want to voice that, then let them. You yourself said you don't endorse him. Don't hate others cause they go into more detail

The backlash is coming not so much from Johnny Jones being a candidate, but from it being forced down the fans' throats that he should be the ONLY candidate.

And thats the worst part IMO. Not his fault. It sucks but I wouldnt be heartbroken if he got hired. I'd still buy season tickets.
