Cool story and all, but I've only argued against government mandates and the environment is #1 on their list.

Again, a majority of our government and half of the voting population are pushing this narrative so to act like its just accepted that EVs are no better for the environment is dumb.

Then clearly you have me confused with someone else. I never once said EVs couldn't save the consumer money. So I guess take your argument and reply to the appropriate person?

Let me try from a different angle, do you support the 2nd amendment?

Yes, and do you understand that our government is a representative republic and therefore, if the majority of the population is for something, it has a higher chance of being implemented.
Or should we just write our congressman so his aid can send back a stock email?

New tires 3x per year is a small price to pay to virtue signal on social media about my EV.

My truck weighs 9,200 lbs and makes around 1000 ft-lbs of torque and often has heavy shite hooked up to it. I got 70k miles out of my first set of tires and will probably get more out of my current set. Both all terrain tires. Weight and torque can't be the problem.
I dont understand how it's possible to only get 25k miles out of a set of car tires that aren't track tires. My last set of car tires lasted 100k miles and had life left in them. I changed them just because I felt like I should. Do electric cars come with track tires on them or something?

My EV, a BMW IX M60, is fast as frick. I am always ragging it out, because it’s so fast! I can’t imagine my tires will last long.
Posted on 1/25/24 at 9:06 pm to jsmoke222000
Man the stupidity of some people. Just post shite with no understanding of the topic. My EV is sitting at 22k and my tires look to last close to another 22k

The tires are most assuredly softer than what you have on an obvious work truck. But they don't have to be. You can buy any tire you want to, though I stick to XL load-rated tires for my EV. And most people aren't needing tires at 25k miles. I've got a set with nearly that on them now (the OEMs that came with it) that still look brand new. I replaced them all back in November for under $1,000, right around the same cost to replace all the tires on our other two ICE vehicles. And with Michelin CrossClimate 2s. An excellent all-weather handling, and durable tire that you can put on any comparable vehicle.
This whole talking point is one of the dumbest ones so far.

Agreed. I can get 5,000 miles or 100k miles out of a set of tires on my work truck, by picking different kinds of tires and driving habits.

quote:This is now the 2nd time you've said something that I can easily point out in a post, then lie and say you never said that thing.
Then clearly you have me confused with someone else. I never once said EVs couldn't save the consumer money.
A poster claimed you don't save with an EV, I replied and said that's not true. You replied quoting me saying that then said some nonsense like "Ah so you're buying into the...nevermind"
But now you're going to backtrack and try to claim that was NOT you saying you thought I was falling for some BS about EVs being cheaper?
It's weak to not stand on the stuff you say. If you say it, own it. Especially when it's still here for anyone to see. Now you're trying to say the exact opposite. That mindset is weak.
quote:Except for this time?
I never once said EVs couldn't save the consumer money.
quote:I did.
So I guess take your argument and reply to the appropriate person?
So I guess you should maybe stop continually saying one thing then claiming you never said that thing?

Nice try, but you are wrong. Go back and reread. You replied to me. I was talking to someone about them being a net neutral on the environment. Still have never once said they can't save consumers money. Keep digging though, I'm sure you will find some way to twist words or just straight up lie again.
I'll help you since you clearly have me confused with someone.
I stated that EVs are at best net neutral for the environment

Now don't cherry pick one line out of a post to try to make your point.

It's like you don't even realize the posts are still up. If you're going to lie, at least try to go back and edit your posts saying the thing you pretend you're not saying.
quote:Except for the time you said it that I linked and quoted. It's right there, so weird that you're still denying it...pretty funny.
Still have never once said they can't save consumers money.
quote:Or just take your literal words.
Keep digging though, I'm sure you will find some way to twist words
So when I responded "no" to the person that said they don't save consumers money and YOU quoted me saying "no" and made your comment, what did you mean by that? Can't wait to see you try to explain this and tell me you didn't mean you disagreed with me.
quote:Are you not able to read, or click on a link? I posted it, it was you. You're really struggling to keep up with facts here.
I'll help you since you clearly have me confused with someone.
Anohter poster said tehy're at best a net neutral. I said no, you replied, quoted me saying no and you said "Ah, you buy into it all..
Nevermind, continue on"
Again, tell me how that is you NOT disagreeing with me.
quote:LOL. Again, no, you are wrong and lying.
You replied to this comment
Feel free to go back and look at the post. You do realize you can quote just pieces of a post, right? I quoted 1 specific piece about them being net neutral. I replied to that, saying that's not correct. You replied 100% disagreeing.
quote:You're literally telling me not to use facts and to instead use the shite you're making up in your head that happened that factually did not happen.
Now don't cherry pick one line out of a post to try to make your point.

You cherry picked a sentence at the end of the post ( which I even clarified in a follow up response to another poster well before you entered the thread) and provided no context to the entire beginning of the post.
Here is the clarification post that you obviously missed
It's pretty simple. Sucks that your reading comprehension is so poor
And finally, you keep saying
That was me saying they are net neutral, in relation to the environmental impact I was talking about in the very same post. I don't know why you keep attributing this post to someone else when you replied to me...

Direct facts and data of my own, yes I do buy into that. Crazy thought, I know.
I have literal data I keep that shows I've saved monthly/yearly or whatever by switching 1 of our vehicles to an EV, but tell me more about this data that you're relying on others to give you that make you think it's better than my own.

A set of 4 tires on a current stock model S is $3000.
Yeah frick all that
It is so funny that people just believe randos throwing out something with no support. Confirmation bias is a helluva drug.
Lets look at the price ranges, the first two tires are the highest and lowest priced tires Tirerack has for the Model 3 AWD Performance they are at the upper end of the range because they are 20" high performance tires.
Here is the range for tires to fit the Model 3 AWD so 18" and lower performance more of a grand touring tire
Do you see anything approaching $3000 for a set? I am not saying some tire shop somewhere won't charge someone $3k for a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires for a Model 3 but someone would be a fool for paying that.
