Look they are all great points being made. I especially agree with the way LSU wide receivers block. I think that gives them a big edge in the NFL.
I was just responding to the statistics of both teams NFL wide receivers. Can you honestly say that both teams have been working with even close to the same talent? Look at the guys you just listed. They were all top 50 wide receiver recruits in the country. Josh Boyce was unranked and only other offer was SMU.
My point is, with the sample size of receivers we are using, TCU's best wide receiver recruit in that time frame wasn't even ranked as high as LSU's lowly 3 stars. When you are constantly getting 4 and 5 stars some are bound to be successful in the league.
LSU can say, "Stephen look at all these guys in the NFL, you could be another." TCU can say, "Stephen we don't have as many NFL guys but we have never recruited a talent like you." As a fan of both schools I think he would be successful at either. The real waste would be if he ended up at MSU.

Trying to be objective here because facts are facts. LSU has always put WRs in the NFL. As pointed out much more than TCU. However, I was just curious as to the athletes that LSU had to start with. Per Rivals...
LSU
Odell Beckham - 4 star (#6 WR)
Jarvis Landry - 5 star (#4 WR)
Rueben Randle - 5 star (#1 WR)
James Wright - 4 star (#42 WR)
Russell Shepard - 5 star (QB)
Dwayne Bowe - 4 star (#21 WR)
Brandon Lafell - 3 star (#32 WR)
TCU
Josh Boyce - 3 star (unranked)
Jeremy Kerley - 4 star (athlete)
The only other highly ranked TCU recruit in this time period was Ladarius Brown who was a 4 star athlete. Never finished at TCU because he got into the herm.
Just for fun with the Dupre and Turpin comparison
Malachi Dupre - 5 star (#2 WR)
Kevontae Turpin - 2 star (unranked)
My point is that TCU has never had the talent that LSU has gotten year after year. But TCU is about to put another unranked 3 star into the NFL in the first two rounds this year. I would love to see what a talent like Sullivan could do in the TCU offense.
And to answer your question Tigerinthehollow, Durpre will obviously go higher in the draft.

As a frequent visitor to the board and Lsu being my second team, just wanted to say great game to the tigers. While the score was close and it made for a good game, y'all controlled most of the game. I have a lot of respect for the athletes that Lsu has. I am hoping that y'all run the table and we can do the same and maybe meet again. Both teams have to make a few adjustments but also have a lot of potential. Have a great rest of the season and I will see y'all in BR a few times this year.

At a quick glance at LSU O-line avg size 320 TCU D-line about 250 LSU is going to do what they do and wear down the D-Line and rotate RB to keep them fresh and by the 4th Qrt....Good Luck Oh yeah and we are supposed to have a passing game this season. As far as the DB get back to me when you school is called DBU!! Not worried about our defense, we lost a lot of players but we just reload..you just have not heard of our next crop of future pros yet
Thank you for saying "quick glance". Every DT that we rotate is 300 pounds and all of our DE are at least 250 give or take a couple pounds. That is an average of about 275. Similar to LSU D-line that has big monsters up front of around 300 and DE around 260 with the guys that play the most. In the O-Line vs. D-line comparison, the D-Line will always lose in terms of weight.
I think this will be a hard fought game and I believe LSU run game will wear down the Frogs a little late in the game. TCU has a solid ball club with solid coaching. The line is around 4.5 and Vegas tends to be pretty accurate. I just find it a little funny when some on this site predict scores like 45-10 like we are North Texas or something. I have great amount of respect for LSU program. I go to at least one game in tiger stadium every year. If I were to make a non-biased bet I would bet LSU to cover. I can see this game being 28-20 LSU, but could also see the tigers scoring late to put it out of reach at 35-20. I just wouldn't sleep on this TCU team like most are.

Considering the type of offenses in the Big 12, I would say it is an accomplishment. However, doesn't make you a winning team
I get it I get it, the SEC > Big 12. Spare me because I don't disagree.

My goodness 42-10? There are some ridiculous scores on this thread. I have said all along the Tigers will win. If you have read my previous posts I have a connection with LSU and consider the Tigers my second team, so I come in peace.
First of all I definitely do not see the Frogs being ranked ahead of the Tigers to start this season. Which is good because I wouldn't wanna piss off Ego and the boys before they even take the field.
Secondly, for the posters listing the scores of the Frogs games last year, Texas Tech was triple OT and West Va was overtime as well. The Frogs had the number 1 defense in the Big 12. Now we bring back 9 from that defense.
So bringing up scores like 43-10 compared to the likes of Towson and N. Texas...yeesh. I think some will be disappointed and call for Cam Cams firing after game 1.
My prediction: 24-14 Tigers but could see the tigers winning by as much as 17 towards the end of the game.

They did in 3 of their losses last year. That vaunted d git shredded. Texas Tech put up 56 pts.
Oklahoma St. was really the only game the Frogs did not have a chance of winning. Tech also had one of the top offenses in the country and it took 3 OTs to score those 56 points. Three turnovers hurt the Frogs.
I think LSU wins this game. I know cherry picking that score has to help make you feel a lot better about it.

Alabama, aTm, TCU, UF - Tigers will win two and lose two in this grouping. You pick.
Good god man.
I think the Tigers will win vs. TCU. However, I am a little surprised that everyone writes this game off. I wrote something in another thread showing LSU winning in just about every position battle minus a few vs. TCU. Gary Patterson will have his team well prepared.
Once again I don't think the Frogs will pull it out. I just hope it does not shock people if it is closer than some may think.

Agree with post that their DB's having a lot of tackles does not speak well of their defense, and perhaps of their offense. Was the defense on the field a lot due to an inept offense? Was the DL good, so eveyone passed against them or was their DL and LB's not that good, leaving the DB's to make all of the tackles
I was going to start a thread asking what you guys thought about the game vs. TCU. I figured it would be easier to just add on to this.
I think the DB tackle numbers are a little bit misleading because a lot of our safeties play close to the line in the 4-2-5. Almost like linebackers.
I will give my shot at where the edges are.
QB: Draw - I say this because we are not sure which Casey Pachall will show up this year. If its the Casey of old then the Frogs have the edge. I have not been that impressed with Mett. However, if he comes out like he did vs. Bama then the Tigers will be in good shape.
DL: Frogs - This one is very close only because of LSU inexperience. I know the Tigers reload there. I do think you will be impressed with the Frogs DL.
LB: Tigers - I am not sure what LSU will do to replace Minter but I do know that yall usually put some athletes out there. TCU is pretty weak at the LB position right now.
DB: Frogs - I have a really tough time picking the Frogs here because LSU always puts great DBs on the field. Patterson has said how impressed he is with our secondary unit and that says a lot because the DBs are his unit. Also our entire secondary is returning from the #1 defense in a pass heavy Big 12.
OL: Tigers - I have heard yall have some good returning players and I know the Tigers are always strong in the trenches. The Frogs have some tough roles to fill in our interior OL. It is nice having both tackles returning after a year of experience.
RB: Tigers - The Frogs have a talented group coming in and last years stats don't show our talent at all. Our #1 running back (Waymon James) tore his ACL early in the year and will be ready to go in the fall. Also former 5 star RB Aaron Green transfered in from Nebraska and has looked very good in the spring. All that said, they are not a proven bunch like the Tigers are. That is a very talented stable of backs you have.
WR: Tigers - I think this is a closer margin than some tigers may think. It was tough to showcase our WRs because Boykin is not the passer that Pachall is. We did however lose our #1 receiver in Boyce to the draft. Anytime you do that you will take a step back. Look for JaJuan Story (former 5 star transfer from Florida) to try to take his place. ODB and Landry headline a great group for the Tigers.
TE: TIGERS - We never use our TE and it is annoying as sh*t.
FB: Tigers - Just wanted to add this because I love Copeland.
I am sorry for the long post but I felt that I could give yall a good insight on what we will bring to the game. I have been an LSU fan for a long time and consider them my second college team. I usually make it to at least one game a year in Tiger Stadium. Here is to hoping I don't have to witness the Tigers doing what you did to Oregon last time I was at Jerry World watching the Tigers.
