HBC's are in deep trouble, as are many other public universities as well. They are losing money, students simply cannot afford to go into greater amounts of debt in the midst of a Depression. It is far more important to maintain academic integrity and efficacy than to spend the money on athletics at this point

When I was young, Bob Hayes. Dude may still be the fastest guy to ever play the game. He changed the way defense was played. Not the greatest hands, but his speed was just incredible....

Bo Jackson, Howie Long, Darrel Green, that guy played until he was in his 40's, still ran a 4.3.

I give my wife non-punctual stories all the time. It takes awhile to come up with a reason why I was coming out of the strip club at 1 am....

Uh, no, no one is that stupid, only Manti Teo. In order for him to be this stupid, then he would have to have someone show him how to put on/take off his uniform. But I'm sure there are reports that he kept it on on the plane until his uniform changer found him at the airport....

If so, then not only was a major talent, but he had to have one hella lawyer. Why, if this guy existed, would no one go after him, have some LEO investigation? Are people too stupid to pick up the phone and say that there is someone doing this in our community? Oh wait, never mind....

The simple-ness would have been for Manti to come out and speak to the media without being lawyered up or with a team of advisers telling him what to say.
But in order to believe what Manti is saying, then you have to believe that an extremely elaborate ruse was created, using multiple people, traveling across the country, paying for food and lodging, all for hoaxing some player. In other words, there is a very rich, bored, psychopathic Samoan 22 yo, with amazing organizational skills, who found/convinced others to go along.
I was asked recently if I could meet anyone, who that be? Forget JFK, Washington, Lincoln, I wanna meet the dude who pulled this thing off...

So he lied about meeting the girl in 09, the relationship got started in '11. That means that whoever was hoaxing had the resources to fly/drive to Palo Alto, then to Socal, then off to the BCS game, if he met these people, or some iteration of the girl. Again, why would anyone want to spend the resources to do this? And just how much money was Tuisasopo making that he had the discretionary income to be able to pull this off? Following the money makes this scenario even weirder....

So if he's gettin hoaxed, it supposedly started in 09. So that means that somehow, for three years, Manti got scammed. Just how much money did it take for all the flying, driving, texting, that was needed to keep this spinning for this much time? Seems nobody had a real job, where and why would any one spend the resources to do this in the first place?

There you have it, ladies and whatever you call yourselves, a glistening example of American journalism. A network which failed to do it's initial job, at best being hoaxed by a guy with no money or resources, at worst, which was in the con, allows the possible hoaxer to set the interview parameters, no continuous audio/video, which then tells us what took place rather than having us see for ourselves, STILL doesn't have first person interviews with the people who were supposedly master minding this hoax, and has broken every journalistic SOP possible. If there is any question of the corruption and conflict of interest that American networks engage in as a matter of course, this whole Manti episode answers just how depraved this industry has become....

I gotta ask this, does anybody in Teo's family or any of his acquaintances, or anybody in Hawaii, have a job? Or do they consider it a job to hoax each other for years at a time???

It only gets better. The latest ESPN spin and the ND boards are dry humping the mattress because it seems to exonerate Teo and ND. Something is wrong with the cognitive capacity of so many USAAmericans, that a hoax was supposedly carried on for nearly four years, because the perps knew that Teo was going up for the Heisman and wanted to prank him going into that. That is what they believe....

According to ND, the best and brightest. Why else pay a premium to go that particular catholic uni? They bill themselves as the Harvard of The Midwest.
Hell, they should be giving money back....

None of this makes sense. Having worked in media, this is what is supposed to be SOP. News producer at ESPN hears of this story, gets initial info from ND SID. He/she then assembles his crew, telling one, get me B-roll of Stanford U from their SID, any footage of her playing her sport, get a hold of their registrar, find out which classes she attended find/pay a classmate, teammate, roommate, to give us background. Turns to the second one, get B-roll and footage of hospital and attending doctors and nurses. Third one, look up CA Dept of Corps and find out address of where her family business is so we can get even more B-roll. Fourth guy, find out what you can of her working with kids in New Zealand, after all, Manti said that she worked with them in that country.
Within hours, not days, not weeks, every one of these people would have come back and said, "Big Boss Man, we can find nothing, zilch, nada, of this woman." News producer would have then contacted ND SID and said that there must be a misunderstanding, talk to Manti again just to make sure we have the facts straight.
That is what always happens, that is why it's called SOP, because that is what you always do. If SOP had been followed, none of this would have occurred. Obviously, SOP wasn't followed, that is why this occurred. The fault for all this lies with ESPN/NBC/ND. They are supposed to be the gatekeepers to keep lies from going out over THEIR audio/video frequencies and under the ND brand. Otherwise, what they're attempting to say is that a couple of 22 yo's with no money or resources, but some twitter accounts, were able to dupe some of the biggest media conglomerates in the world. If so, then those idiots have no business being in business. But they're not idiots, so they knew exactly what was going on.

Knowing ND, I know they do more to protect/maintain their name brand than any other college. It's common sense that the SID would have sat Manti down when the dead gf story first broke, told him that the media would be coming after him, so give us the skinny so that we can spin it the way we want it to be spun.
If Manti gave those people the story that he peddled for however long, and Swarbrick got up on podium and said that we hired a PI and Manti was duped, then both Manti and ND are lying. If Manti told the truth and said this was an online thing, then ND lied. If ESPN/NBC refused to do SOP and follow up and background check, then they were in on the scam. NO ONE comes out of this thing alive...
