Like the post about one drive away from being where Alabama is...while Clemp's son had a hard enough time to keep Carolina from making it a runaway.

Besides, even if you had beat the Gamecocks you would still only be in the same Bowl Game, playing a better team.

Your only hope now is don't "screw the pooch" in a bowl game again and allow 70 to be put on the scoreboard.

After the Carolina game, Clemp's son should be a bit more humble about taking on any team with a winning record, much less one from the SEC.

Here's an early New Year's eve toast to getting a reality check...then you get to start the next season against another SEC team. SEC smackdowns are the answer for ACC fans talking smack.

But I can see that with Auburn, they have so many they could stand having one stolen by Clemp's son and not miss it..

- War Eagle
- Plainsmen
- Tigers

But this is an interesting bit of history...goes hand-in-hand with the fact that an upstate S.C. farmer named Clemp donated his cow pasture as the site for a new agricultural college, he only wanted payment by naming the school after his son. To this day you will not find a true Clemp's son fan who does not pronounce their school with a strong accent on the "P" (while trying to make us all believe it is spelled without the "P").

That play is a statement for the last four years....regardless of all the Clemp's son fans living in a state of denial....

I am looking forward to someone on LSU's defense to make a similar statement in Atlanta...it is certainly worth a 15 yard penalty any day.
Actually Dillon is in S.C. , if that is where Chavis is also from....
They hate to be called CLEMP's SON - and reminding them that their "college" started out in the sticks on a cow pasture donated by a farmer named Clemp - who only wanted the college named after his son...

It's interesting how much they will deny this - but most of their fans will use a very distinctive "P" when pronouncing their school...

True enough....

Since my mother's maiden name was "Chavis"

I have to cheer for this as well:

Well that SEC loyalty thing might be overstated down there...

But money is money, another championship for the SEC - even if it was for 'Bama (we in the East don't seem to have to see them every year except in Atlanta, and frankly we haven't done that well).

Even if wasn't about the SEC thing, sorry, any team against the "Luck of the Irish" and I'll root for. I was cussing Kiffin for having his Trojans run three times up the middle at the end of that game that would have made for another all SEC championship.

I would have even preferred a FL - AL SEC championship myself. I knew Georgia didn't have it in them - they have escaped playing the strength of the SEC West for a couple years now.

Oh well, just ramblings - but BEAT CLEMP's SON

While we do have our little backyard rivalry with an upstate school we affectionately call "Clemp's son" (use that spelling as it really gets under their skin), we are firmly in the SEC fold and proud to be a member of the best college football conference in the nation.

I expect LSU may do as well against Clemp's son as West Virginia did last year in the Orange Bowl. I say turn your DEs loose and it could be lights out by the first half.

There is an article in The State paper in S.C. that may be of interest to all y'all Bayou Tigers - but in particular read the comments section:

As you can tell there are many SEC fans rooting for y'all to not just win, but to make a SEC statement - just as we hope we can against Michigan and 'Bama does against Notre Dame.

I do have one question, as I know that 'Bama is not well liked down in your parts, and there are many Catholics in your Parishes - will y'all be rooting at all for Notre Dame to win, or will you be pulling for the SEC?
