FSU fans saying he has a coke problem. Take it for what it's worth.

I thought "we" hate North LA. But want their players? Why should they go to LSU when they aren't wanted?

Typical south Louisiana poster: "North Louisiana sux. It's south Arkansas/east Texas/west Mississippi. Nothing ever happens there. I would never live there or even visit."

North Louisiana player goes somewhere else: "Whaa? Don't these kids have state pride???"

Pretty much this.
You would have to understand the satisfaction I get when someone smugly tells me they've already rebooted their equipment. That the techs always ask them to reboot, but it never does anything. Then I check uptime and tell them I know they haven't rebooted it. Then force them to reboot while I watch and then it magically starts working.

That and I really hate people now.
Network Admin - ISP - Computer Science

Best part of my job is telling people I know they haven't rebooted their equipment.

Only doesn't save cookies/history to your local machine. Doesn't affect network traffic in any way.
Ubiquiti UniFi is good. If you have the money Xirrus Arrays are better and support a higher number of users if you have the need for that.
Rise Against, "Hero of War"

quote:

A hero of war
Is that what they see
Just medals and scars
So damn proud of me
And I brought home that flag
Now it gathers dust
But it's a flag that I love
It's the only flag I trust

Pink Floyd, "The Fletcher Memorial Home"

quote:

The Fletcher memorial
Home for incurable tyrants and kings
And they can appear to themselves every day
On closed circuit t.v.
To make sure they're still real
It's the only connection they feel
"Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Reagan and Haig
Mr. Begin and friend Mrs. Thatcher and Paisley
Mr. Brezhnev and party
The ghost of McCarthy
The memories of Nixon
And now adding colour a group of anonymous Latin-American meat packing glitterati"
Did they expect us to treat them with any respect
They can polish their medals and sharpen their
smiles, and amuse themselves playing games for a while
Boom boom, bang bang, lie down you're dead
Safe in the permanent gaze of a cold glass eye
With their favourite toys
They'll be good girls and boys
In the fletcher memorial home for colonial

Not a good analogy...I view the ISPs more like the owner of the mall...they have a limited amount of space that they rent out to various merchants. Now imagine if the gov passed a law requiring malls to rent space to every single merchant at a set price.

The "mall" is already renting out "larger" spaces in the form of increased bandwidth.
I already am paying for my baud rate and 150Gb of data per month. What they are asking is for me to pay an extra X amount per month so that Netflix doesn't buffer.

What about 4G?

I don't have much experience with 4G other than the little bit I use it on my phone. Speeds are OK, but all of the issues that are present with any wireless internet still exist. Latency would be better than satellite since they only have to travel to the cell towers and not satellites in orbit.
quote:

If you have satellite you have three options that I'm aware of: hughesnet, direct and dish.

Satellite internet is not a serious alternative to a wired high speed connection. Latency will be 300ms+ easily. HughesNet also has a data cap ranging from 10Gb-40Gb per month depending on the package. I am unsure of the other two regarding data caps. Fact is satellite internet is for people whose only other option is dial-up.

Imagine if the power company could decide which of your appliances could run, or which brand you had to buy!

I thought of posting this already, but with the way this thread has gone I expect plenty will say that that is their choice.
Just as an example on barriers to entry, the cost of one core router can be anywhere from 25k-40k depending on the brand name. You will need more than one of these along with a whole slew of other switches/routers that can easily run 10k+ a pop.

You want to tax the air now? Good God. You liberals hate the idea of earning your own money, and being able to keep it.

Pretty sure no one said anything about taxing the air, but brilliant strawman.

So answer this:

1. Where there is competition who will have more customers the net neutral ISP or the ISP that limits access in some manner?

Depends on the speeds and price offered by the ISPs, but assuming everything else is equal I concede that the net neutral ISP will most likely have more business.

2. Where there is a lack of competition and the only ISP limits service would it be a good idea for a competing ISP to extend service to that are on a net neutral basis?

Often the ISPs collude, for example, Company A approaches company B and says if you don't compete with us in Area A then we won't compete with you in Area B.

Because this week was very very bad for people with only 1 internet option..

According to some on this board, this is only a select few. (it's not.)
