re: Top 10 things that American liberals used to say, but not anymore

not sure if you are advocating for 'God' or not. personally and as with Franklin, Jefferson, etc. believe religious beliefs have nada to do with governments that espouse equality. humanity developed ethical systems before Christian 'Bible' written.

FYI
lib·er·al (lib'?r-?l, lib'r?l)
adj.
1.a. Favoring reform, open to new ideas, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; not bound by traditional thinking; broad-minded. See Synonyms at broad-minded.
You know, the ones that signed that declaration, included something called a 'Bill of Rights', advocated universal suffrage, etc.
but perhaps you're referring to some specific persons that may not be 'liberal'??????

25 clicks and that out of context quote only seen in Die Ziet
most eloquent and in context reference from upi LINK [/quote]:
"See what happens. But to frighten myself or rejoice over what may happen, in that I think we can fall into a great recklessness. ... It will be seen. We will see what he does and there he will be evaluated. Always the concrete," Francis replied. "Concrete things. And from the concrete we draw the consequences. We lose much of the sense of the concrete. I was told the other day by a thinker that this world is so disordered that it lacks a fixed point. And it is precisely the concrete that gives you the fixed points. What you did, what you decided, how you moved. That's why I hope and see."

re: Louisiana Heart Hospital closing
Posted by honeytigre on 1/31/17 at 1:47 pm to GEAUXT
opened in 2003, acquired by Cardiovascular Care Group in 2011. had a great reputation -- good article and comments from nola article LINK.
this part of interest: The public gained a peek at the hospital's financial situation in 2013 when it engaged in a legal skirmish with the St. Tammany assessor's office over property taxes. The assessor's office set a fair market value of almost $26 million on the hospital's buildings and property. That was was more than double the $10.8 million value sought by the hospital, located on Louisiana 434.The hospital appealed to the state Tax Commission, which investigated the matter and set the fair market value at $23.4 million. The hospital appealed that decision to the 19th Judicial District, which in March 2015 affirmed the Tax Commission's valuation.

they are trying to grant the taxpayer the right to say "Well if you're going to jack way too much of my money, I should have a say on how I'm to consume the goods and services it affords me." And that's the voucher program in a nutshell.
thing is - public does have a say. if citizens don’t like the way in which the systems they own and finance are operated, citizens need to get involved to degree they can effect change.
That may be how those 2 major parties frame the “privatizion” of public systems of education to convince ignorant. Essentially is spoils system politics that divert public pensions, elements of medicare and medicaid, roads, prisons, etc. nada to do with good governance.

didn't vote trump, but would welcome further investigations. until public sees justice served to those who abuse govt power, country won't ever regain once lofty status.

do you think having a dog that sleeps near you (not necessarily on bed) may help? my dog helped me awaken from nightmare the other night -- was a relief.

re: Have we ever discussed the banana?
Posted by honeytigre on 11/1/15 at 1:32 pm to Martini
My mom would fry bananas often for breakfast. Loved it as a kid -- simple saute in butter (high heat), then sprinkled with cinnamon. Ate banana sandwiches often -- fresh banana on buttered bread lightly sprinkled with cinnamon.

just to say to anyone ...
listening to radio -- no cable.
nice for someone to comment again on time left in quarter, and anything else to help.

If rational criticism wasn't deemed 'venom' or 'hate,' you mightn't think that 'blind' attribute so irrational.

JP Morgan: I owe the public nothing.
Steel baron: We bought the son of a bitch, but he wouldn't stay bought.
U.S.S. Main propaganda
Food processors cave to food labeling law under threat of revelations
Ummm, “Why is history is so important?”

Regardless,it does state that "In 2013, concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere was 142% of the pre-industrial era (1750), and of methane and nitrous oxide 253% and 121% respectively." Not to alarm you.
