Not quite the same topic, but another thing (among many) that I think are unique re: LSU Football is the musical ditty's the band plays when we make a first down or the D makes a stop. When trying to find the game on radio when I was a long way from home, I would often recognize the band before hearing Ferguson's voice.
I've never noticed another band doing this.

I remember a time when John Ferguson was getting bad pub, much in the way JH is now. This was late 70's early 80's. But, like the previous post, he was a familiar voice at night when trying to pull in a radio signal when far from home on a Saturday night.
