Petition to quit playing "Tee Na Na" at all Louisiana Festivals
Posted by Steele4real on 6/13/12 at 1:29 am
Maybe because I am a vendor at most of these yearly festivals, but no other song in the history of music has annoyed me as much as "tee na na".
Everything about it, from its swamp pop cajun roots, to the lyrics that make no sense, to the melody, to the average amateurs who perform it on stage. And then, every band performs this song. In the course of a weekend at a festival, I hear this song as many as 7 times. It's God awful :(
By the way, what does "Tee Na Na" even mean? Riddle me that???

I decided to major in Pete for the high starting salary stated all over the Internet at 83k. Is this amount just not average anymore?
Before anyone slams me for majoring in something purely for financial gain... Isn't that what college is for in the first place, to gain financially upon graduating?
With that stated, are the people answering just giving educated guesses or are a lot of you actually in the industry?

More than just trying to kiss arse, writing a letter or sending an email is just something you should do out of courtesy. If you really want a job, offer to work for 2 weeks for a trial period with no pay. This has never failed me because it shows your dedication to getting the job and not to mention they've never took me up on the offer... I'm not sure they could justify the free labor in their minds.

Exclusive means they essentially own your footage. They own the rights and no one else can ever use it except their company. Commercial rights (at least in the music biz) they borrow your footage, and "x" number of people are allowed to view it.
What I'm saying here is that if they want exclusive rights to your footage make them pay a steep price for it because it means they'll use it for other commercials as well.

If they're legit, it means they have money to give you. If they want exclusive rights (as opposed to just commercial rights) charge them an assload.
I would ask in what nature would the footage be used, and then ask them how much they're willing to pay for it.
Regardless of their response say something to the effect of "whoaaaa, is that it?" then plead your case that this footage is rare and that they'll have to make you a better offer. They'll proceed and asking you what you think is fair. Go ahead and state an offer that is double what they initially offered.
They'll say they can't afford it, then you say well the very least I can take is (175% of their initial offer). They'll come down on you from that and y'all will likely agree on 150% of what they initially offer.

$41 dollars you say, a clean profit of $8 dollars since I bought them on eBay back in 05!

I haven't read through this entire thread but when I was 16 I bought 50,000 in Iraqi dinar because of what I read in an ebook. Is this money finally worth something? And if so where do I go exchange it at?

Why should that annoy the shite out of you? The field interests me, and pays well I don't exactly see the harm.
I have no problem living on a metal island and working crazy hours... Granted I could do that right now with no degree, but the degree gives you a type of insurance you can't buy from an insurance company.
LSU did raise the requirements for Pete, you need a 2.8 in all core curriculum classes.

From what I've read you're spot on, but seeing as you have a good GPA and you went to a better than average school you'd likely be in the higher range of that average. There's a lot of variables of course, that's just my guess.
Chemical engineering seems harder than Pete. They have similarities, but I'm not exactly sure you could classify it as a subset of chem.

That's unfortunate. I jacked around my freshman year and ended up with a 1.7 ... I brought it up to a 2.6 but still, I would need to make a 3.5 here on out to finish with a 3.3... I didn't even assume GPA mattered all that much in engineering.

I had read 83k back in 09, but statistics have a way of not telling the whole story if you know what I mean.
Petroleum Engineering starting salary out of LSU?

I'm 22 and have been out of school for 3 years, I went back last semester to a community college to raise grades so i could major in petroleum engineering at
LSU. I have a few years left, but what I'm wondering is how much do these guys make out of school?
