We already have an issue with qb depth and development on the roster, why in the world would you want to see him go?

The coaches need to find a juco that can enroll in December and compete for the job against frazier, wallace, and moseley in the spring.

The last thing we need to do is reduce # of available QB options. You never know he may make take a giant step over the offseason. Doubt it, but he definitely has the physical tools.
I'm starting to think scar is going to run the table even with that schedule.

Sounds crazy no as they always seem to find a way to screw something up, but they looked the part saturday night.

They have the momentum rolling.

road trip to BR has trap game/letdown written all over it but I'm expecting scar to take care of business and have the media slobbing their knob afterwards.
It's just about pointless for these espn talking heads or anyone else for that matter to try to predict anything more than the first 3-4 games of the season.

I have no clue how anyone can make a prediction on Auburn this year as we are such an unknown entity. There are so many new faces that will be in the 2-deep, many of which have little experience or will be contributing as true freshman.

Seriously, how the hell can you predict the AU-UGA game at this point?

All I can point to is AU's first 5 games and realize that utah st and fla. atlantic are guaranteed wins and much needed scrimmages, and that msu, clemson, & s.car are going to be out payback and all 3 returning significant starting experience.

If any AU fan doesn't think we are going to have our hands full early with msu and clemson they are suffering from bcs title hangoveritis.

There is way too much talent on this team not to get better and better as the season goes along, but there are way too many new parts not to expect bumps early.

I think 'ole 601 is vastly underestimating the importance of home field advantage. Had last year's game been at JHS, it would have been a blow out, especially late in the season when we were on fire.. Noone, I mean NOONE, could stop our offense. Bama came closest, and we still scored 28 points.

You make the case for msu here. The point is the game wasn't played late in the season last year, nor will it be played late in the season this year.

This will be the 2nd game of the year for AU. I hope you don't think we are going to get all the kinks worked out in one game against utah state.

juco is nowhere near sec.

But yet Trotter or Moseley picking their nose on the bench in the SEC is better?

Cam played an entire season and playoffs in juco. It wasn't like it was the first live snap action he'd taken since high school, which is basically the case for Trotter or Moseley.

ill take pure talent over experience anyday. see cam newton

Cam had experience. Give me a break.

Do we have a talent advantage over MSU? Absolutely.

Hopefully that will be enough to overcome the plethora of mistakes we are sure to commit in the 2nd game of the year.

It's just plain foolish to overlook any SEC team, and whether or not you like msu is a well coached squad with Mullen running things.

returning experience is meaningless if the talent sucks

And talent is meaningless without experience and disclipline
quote:

Just saw on college football live that Auburn graduated 6 of their top 7 tacklers.

And ESPN uses the same math I do in listing that Auburn lost and must replace 4 starters on the OL.

This will be as good an opportunity for msu to steal a win @ AU as I've seen in a while.

I still think we find a way to get it done but by no means will it be easy.

Returning experience advantage goes to MSU
Home field advantage goes to AU
Would have loved to see Wilson on the plains. Wisky has a real shot to compete with him at QB this year so I agree it was a better scenario for him.

That said I would have liked to see him running Malzahan's offense. It had the potential to be a good show.

8-4 is a great target for AU to shoot for this year. A couple of breaks and it can be better, or worse than that.
quote:

We'll have to see how Trotter pans out (if he is even the starter), but he really and truly is an upgraded version of Chris Todd. I'm not sure why people are questioning him being as good as Todd, I mean Todd sucked arse.

Honestly that remains to be seen. We've seen what Todd produced, his college career is over. Trotter still has a couple of years before the book is closed. But as of yet Trotter is still a blank slate of stats.

And why all the hate for Todd? He only set AU records in 09 while playing with a bum arm and one of the worst AU defenses I've ever seen.

People continue to make this 2009 comparison of Todd versus 2011 version of Trotter and come to the conclusion that Trotter is so much better. I SERIOUSLY don't get that comparison AT ALL.

Where is the basis for it? Trotter has ZERO, ZERO D-1 experience. I don't care how accurate his arm is or how great he looks in skelly drills, he has no experience where it counts.(By the way, in spring a-day 2010 Trotter by far looked like the better qb than Cam. Many believed he won the job).

In contrast Todd in 09 was a 5th year senior with a boatload of playing experience. He had stops at Texas Tech, juco, Troy, and then a year of experience facing SEC defenses in 2008. Not to mention all of that time in different variations of the spread with different coordinators. He was known to work hard in the film room and obviously he had it mentally if he was able to take the starting position from Burns & Caudle during a measly 2 weeks of fall practice.

If Todd didn't have a 'dead arm' hindering him he would have produced even gaudier stats in 09.

I really hope Trotter(or Moseley) steps in and takes off running, but it's hard to believe either will do so without taking their lumps considering neither has been on the field with a starting SEC unit on the other side of the ball.

quote:

quote: but Trotter and Moseley have ZERO game experience. ZERO Not true

Hmmm...........

And what experience would that be? High school?

Trotter has absolutely no meaningful experience in a D-1 game other than scrub time, and very little of it at that.

Chris Todd for some reason is everyone's favorite whipping boy when it comes to comparisons, but Todd was a 5th year senior starter in 09 with years of playing experience. He took the starting position away from Burns and Caudle during 2 weeks of fall practice.

Say what you will about Todd's arm issues or Trotter's accuracy, but Trotter and Moseley have ZERO game experience. ZERO.

Big big difference right there. Doesn't matter who Gus puts on the field, they are going to take their lumps as first year starters.
I like boom. I think he can be successful.

But working under good HC's as a coordinator doesn't equal good HC out of the gate.

Florida is a big name program, not a program where new HC's cut their teeth. I was just surprised they went with an unproven commodity, that's all.

It's not like the position of head coach at UF is a situation where the university has to take a gamble.
quote:

sure hasnt seemed to hurt chizik

Chizik had 2 years to cut his teeth as a head coach. The results speak for themselves although UF talent> Iowa State talent. Still 5-19.

Personally I was shocked Florida took a gamble on a coordinator with no HC experience from outside the program, and then paid him a ton of money on top of it as if he was being recruited as a HC by all the SEC schools.

It was a stretch....................

And it may work out, but will they be patient with the growing pains?

re: Mortgage 'Rate Reduction'

Posted by atl4tigerfan on 6/10/11 at 2:14 pm to
Just to clarify, we are talking about a rate reduction here, not a refi as it seems some are discussing.

Someone brought up the term mortgage modification and the impact on your credit. I'm not sure if this is a mortgage modification or not.

Basically I was listening to Clark Howard and a listener called in and had a question for Clark. She said, hey Clark I received an unsolicitated offer in the mail from my mortgage lender on my current loan offering to lower my rate with no closing cost, etc, etc. She thought it was a scam and wanted to hear his opinion. She had a 6.75% 30yr fixed and the offer was to lower it 1.5%. This WAS NOT a refi offer, just a rate reduction under the same terms of their current loan.

Clark agreed, saying it does sound too good to be true, however he went on to say the offer is legitimate and they've been getting calls nonstop about it. So his advice was to take advantage of it as the banks would rather lower your rate than lose your mortgage to a refinance(with a competitor).

As for my specific situation, I purchased this 'rental' property about 5 years ago, however when we purchased it we intended to move into it and turn the property we lived in into a rental(as opposed to selling it). Matter of fact we had it leased out before we purchased the new property.

Turns out we just ended up staying in our current property and renting out the new property we purchased. Both properties are identical and in the same townhome development literally doors down from each other.

The original lender was a 3rd party that ended up selling the loan to countrywide and then countrywide folded and BOA picked up the assets.

Bottom line is the holder of the loan could give a crap as long as the mortgage is paid on time, which it has been for 5 years now.

So obviously the refinance route is not one I want to head down as I might get forced into a investment rate.

So that is why I was asking if anyone had an experience achieving this 'rate reduction'. I actually tried it myself about a 1-2 years ago and they acted like they had no idea what I was talking about. Big shock there.

Mortgage 'Rate Reduction'

Posted by atl4tigerfan on 6/9/11 at 2:31 pm
(Just started posting on TD although I've been lurking and reading the money board for a while.)

Is anyone familiar with approaching your mortgage lender and achieving a rate reduction-no refinancing, just an internal process.

I was in the car yesterday and flipping through the channels listened to Clark Howard for a spell and he discussed this very topic.

I have a BOA 30yr @ 6.375% on a piece on a rental property I own in Atlanta. About 5 years in on the loan.

Basically listening to what Clark had to say, he said the bank would prefer to lower the rate somewhat as opposed to losing the loan to a refinance(at a competitor).

Anyone have any experience/advice/suggestions on taking a crack at this? I have no doubt the lender will blow it off, ignore it, delay, or otherwise tell me it's not possible.

(I need to clarify a few things. A)The current loan is not classified as investment, but residential)

This sounds like the exact same stuff you hear about Rodney Garner year in and out but yet he continues to recruit well and stay on SEC staffs.

re: Should I get the costas?

Posted by atl4tigerfan on 5/12/11 at 6:50 am to
Is there a difference/advantage to the Costa glass lenses over the cr-39 'plastic' ones?

I've always purchased Costa cr-39's.
This guy has no business shite talking, but that said if there ever was a time for msu to steal one from Auburn, 2011 might be one of their better opportunities.

AU is loaded up with talent, just the majority of it are freshman, redshirt fr, and sophs. Little to no experience.

Going to be a battle of better talent + homefield advantage vs. experience/returning starters.

The story I am hearing is that the 4 AU players were at the trailer earlier that night playing poker.

Apparently the players got fleeced of their $$ and decided to return later that evening to get their money back.

Sounds like the 'host' runs a regular poker game/casino op, wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they ran a crooked game.

What college aged kid keeps a lockbox in their residence unless they have a lot of $$ on hand. And any college aged kid with a ton of $$ on hand is dealing drugs or running a gambling op.

Very sad story. Those 4 players had it all in the palm of their hand and destroyed their futures in an instant.
